#3600 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF T IT, CITY OF JEFFERSON
TO MAKE AN APPLICATION TO THE 17RDERAL EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATION OF
PUBLIC WORKS FOR LOANS AND GRANTS OF FUNDS TO BE YSED IN THE ERECTION
OF A FIRE STATION, IMPROVEMENT OF CITY HALL AND THE IMPROVEMENT
OF CAPITAL AVENUE BETWEEN MADISON STREET AND THE STATE CAPITAL GROUNDS.
11MREAS, at an election lawfulljs held in the City of Jefferson
on the 28th. day november, 1933 two thirds of the voters
voting at said election assented to the incurring of indebtedness
as follows, to-wit;
For making improvements of the City Mall, $20,000.00
For erecting a fire Station 351,000.00
For widening and improving Capital Avenue
from Madison Street to the East Line of the
Capital Grounds 3,000.00
and,
WHEREAS, The City Council proposes to issue general obliga-
tion bonds evidencing said indebtedness and to use the proceeds there-
from for the purposes authorized in said propositions voted upon
at said election, and,
Whereas, it is the understanding of the Council of the City
of Jefferson, that the Federal Goverment, throu7gh the Federal Eme-
rgency Administration of Public Works, will make loans to said City
to the amount of the bonds hereinabove mentioned, plus a grant of
thirty per cent. (3VaO of the cost of labor and material to be used
in the three projects herein set out.
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, AS
FOLLOWS;
SECTION I. That the Mayor of the City of Jefferson, Missoyri,
is hereby instructed and directed to apply to the above mentioned
Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for a loan in the
amount of Twenty Thousand ($20,000.00) Dollars, for the purpose
of improving the City Hall, plus a grant of thirty per cent (3Wo),
of the cost of lal, and material to be used in said improvement,
and said Mayor is '',,ereby instructed tp apply to the above mentioned
Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for a loan of Thirty
five Thousand ($35,000.00) Dollars, to be used in the erection and
constryction of a Fire Station, plus a grant of thirty per (30%)
of the cost of labor and material used in the construction and erection
of said Fire Station, and the sn,id Mayor ofJ6fferson City is further
instructed and directed to apply to the above mentioned Federal
Emergency Administrstion of Public Works for a loan of Three Thousand
($3,000.00) Dollars, for the purpose of improving and widening
Capital Avenue from Madison Street to the East side of the Capital
