City of Jefferson authorized the issuance of bonds in the sum of
twenty thousn.ttd dollars, the proceeds thereof to be used for remodling
and repairing the City Ilall, a,nd,
o 17 F_Cteral Goverment has authorized ti,nd granted a
sum of approximately seven thousand five hundred dollars to said city
to be used in such remodeling and repairing of said City Ila.11, and
'WVEiiEAS, it has been determined that properly arranging the
City Offices and using the third floor of said building, together
with the removal of the fire department to new fire stations, that the
City will not have immediate use for a portion of the first floor
of said City Hall Building,and
WHERE,tS, the Council has determined that it can lease said por-
tion of the first floor of said City Hall for a period of ten years,
a.nd that the rental obtained may be used in retiring and paying the bonds
hereinbefore mentioned, and in helping to maintain and keep said
City Hall -Ziuilding in proper repair and condition for the carrying
on of the buisnessof said City, Now Therefore,

Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Jefferson is hereby instructed
and directed to execute a lease agreement with the J.C• Penny Company,
a corporation, leasing and letting; a, certain portion of the first
floor of the City Hall Building to said J.C. Penny Company for a, period
of ten years from August 1, 1935, with aption for five years extension
a copy of said lease being attached to this ordinance and made a part
hereof by reference. All the terms of said lease agreement are
hereby specifically approved by the City Council, and the City Clerk
is hereby authorized to attest said lease agreement, a.nddeliver same
to the proper representive of the J.C. Penny Company, whenever said le
lestR named company has properly executed said agreement.
