BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 'OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTICN 1. That Sections 909, 9109 9119 9125 913, 9149 9159 9169 917 918, 919, 9209 9219 9229 9239 924, 9259, 926, 9279 928, 929, 930, 931, 932, 933, 9349 and 935, Chapter 47, Revised Ordinances of the City of Jefferson, 1925, be and the same are hereby repealed. Means Ray Means Ray President of the Council Yayor #3730 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING A BUILDING CODE BY ADOPTING THE RECOMMNDATION OF THE NATIONAL BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERSs LAST EDITION, FOR THE REGULATION OF THE' ALTERATION, CONSTRUCTIONV, INSPECTION O . OPENI!dG AND/OR CLOSING OF THEATRES, OPERA HOUSES, MOTION PICTURE THEATRES, EXHIBITION HOUSES AND OTHER BUILDINGS OR PLACES INTENDED TO BE USED r FOR THEATRICAL, OPERATIC, LOTION PICTURE SHOWS, OR ANY OTHER AMUSEMENT OR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THE ORDINANCE. ` BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITE OF JEFFERSON,MISSOURI9 AS FOLLOWS e SECTION 1. For the purposes of this ordinance the recommendations for a Building Code of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, last edition, wherever applicable, are hereby adopted as the Building Code. 23 SECTION 2. Every theatre, opern. house, motion picture theatre or exhibition house or other buildings or places intended to be used for theatrical, operatic, motion picture shows and/or any other amusement or entertainment purposes shall be 1,built to comply with the requirements of this ordinance. No building, at the time of the passage of this code, which is not in actual. use for the purposes herein referred to, or at the time of the proposed alterations or additions, in actual use for the purposes herein referred to, shall be altered or added to for the purpose of converting the same into a theatre, opera house, motion picture show or amusement or entertainment assembly unless when so altered or added to it shall conform to and comply with the requirements of the Building Code recommended by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, last edition. SECTION 3. Before any building that is to be used for theatrical, operatic, motion picture shows or other amusement or entertainment purpose is opened or re-opened to the public, said building must be inspected by the Building Inspector of this city and the permit to peen issued to the owner or manager of said building by the Building Inspector, such permit to be in writing and to bear the signature of the Building Inspector. The Council of this city is hereby empowered to revoke any license or permit not in conformity with the Building Code recommended by the last edition of the Building Code as recommended by the National Board of Fire Underwriters and shall by resolution close the same and prevent its opening until an acknowledgement in writing of such approval shall have been given by the Building Inspector. SECTION 4. In Addition to the penalties hereinbefore provided, every person, firm or corporation violating or aiding or abetting the violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deetmed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) , or by a jail sentence of not less than fifteen days nor more than ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
