HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 183-02 08-27-2002 RESOLUTION NO. i s 3-0 2 • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, CASTING THE CITY'S VOTE ON THE OFFICIAL BALLOT FOR THE ELECTION OF MAYOR NELDA S. STRODER TO THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE (TML) BOARD OF TRUSTEES. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, THAT: I. The City Council hereby casts its vote on the Official Ballot for the election of Mayor Nelda S. Stroder to the Texas Municipal League (TML) Board of Trustees. II. A substantial copy of the Official Ballot is attached hereto and incorporated herein for all • intents and purposes. Ballots received after this date cannot be counted. All ballots should be mailed to: Trustee Election, Tony Korioth, Secretary of the Board, P.O. Box 161000, Austin, Texas 78716-1000. The names of the officials listed on this ballot have been nominated to serve asix-year term on the TML Intergovernmental Risk Pool (Workers' Compensation, Property and Liability) Board of Trustees. Each member of the Pool is entitled to vote for Board of Trustee members. Please record your choices by placing an "X" in the square beside the candidate's name. You should vote for one candidate for each place. PLACE 1 ? Robert T. Herrera, City Manager, City of La Porte (Region 14). Mr. Herrera has served as City Manager since October 1986 and on the TML Intergovernmental Risk Pool Board since May 1993. Mr. Herrera has a Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Economics • from Baylor. Mr. Herrera has served as Vice-Chairman of the Board for two years and was elected to serve as Chairman beginning in October 2002. WRITE IN CANDIDATE: PLACE 2 ? Makia Epie, Councilmember, City of Cedar Hill (Region 13). Mr. Epie is a member of the Cedar Hill City Council, being first elected in 1995. He was appointed to the TML Intergovernmental Risk Pool Board of Trustees in October 1997. Mr. Epie is a Hearing Officer for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, President of the North Central Texas Housing Finance Corporation, and an active participant on National League of Cities and Texas Municipal League committees. WRITE IN CANDIDATE: • Greg Petrey, Executive Director, Brazos County Emergency Communication District • (Region 10).. Mr. Petrey has been with the Communications District in Bryan/College Station for ten years. Prior to coming to Brazos County, he served as Director of the Potter/Randall County Emergency Communications District in Amarillo. Earlier in his career he worked for the City of Canyon and received a degree in General Studies from West Texas A&M at Canyon. ? David K. Stall, City Manager, City of Columbus (Region 14). Mr. Stall has served as City Manager of the City of Columbus since Apri12001 and has over 22 years of local government service. He has served as Councilmember in the City of El Lago, Texas. He has 12 years of service as a peace officer and eight years as the City Manager of Nassau Bay, Texas. He is an active member of the Texas City Management Association and a member of the TCMA Technology Committee. Nelda St. Stroder, Mayor, City of Richland Hills (Region 8). Mayor Stroder was elected to the City Council in 1991 and was elected Mayor in 2002. She has been Director of the Richland Hills Development Corporation and Chair from 1998 to the present. She has also been part of the Richland Hills Crime Prevention Committee since 1998 and the AARP/IRS Tax-Aide Program since 1997. For her community work she has received outstanding service awards - Frist Award (Above and Beyond) and Richland Hills Volunteer of the Year. • ~ Ernest Terry, City Manager, City of Bovina (Region 2). Mr. Terry has been the City Manager since September 2001. Mr. Terry began his career in the U.S. Army in 1968 and retired as an officer in 1988. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UTEP in 1978 and his Masters in Public Administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1990. Mr. Terry was a medical administrator at the Emory Clinic in Georgia and taught at the America Commercial College in Lubbock. ? Ruby L. White, City Secretary, City of Luling (Region 10). Ms. White has been the City Secretary since August 1984. She has served on the Texas Municipal Clerks Association Board as Trustee in 1994 and 1995, Secretary in 1996, Vice-President in 1997, President in 1998, and Immediate Past President in 1999. She has served for two years on the Administrative Management Committee. She was also President of the Capital Chapter from 1988 through 1994. Ms. White also served as an affiliate Director of TML for two years.
