levied and assessed as a special tax for said improvement against each
lot or piece of ground fronting or abutting said Dawson street or the
roadway from the center of the intersection of Dawson Street and the
north curb line on High Street to a point that is 336 feet north of the
north line of High Street.
SECTION. 4. That the City Clerk is hereby instructed to make out
Special tax bills in favor of the contractor Louis Brunner for the
within mentioned work in accordance with the Ordinances of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, relative to said kind of work and in accordance
with the Charter of said City in regard to said work.
SECTION. 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage and approval.

#3764. AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE HOURS OF CLOSING OF BARBER SHOPS
AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
WHEREAS, the State of Missouri has by an Act entitled; " An Act
authorizing all incorporated Cities, Towns and Villages to pass, altery
amend and repeal Ordinances regulating the closing hours of barber shops
and beauty shops* provided and authorized incorporated Cities to regulate
the hours of closing of barber shops, said Act being found at page 3069
Laws of Missouri 1935;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION. I. It is hereby provided that ail barber shops in the
City of Jefferson shall remain closed between the hours of 6300 P. M.

and the ours of 8:00 A.M., except on Saturday of each week, said barber
shops may remain open until 9$00 Otelock _P.M.; and said barber shops
shall remain closed on all legal holidays.
SECTION. 2. It shall be lawful for barbers to perform such service
as may be requested by customers who enter the barber shop before 6:00
P. M. It shall be unlawful to render service to customers entering a
barber shop after 6:00 19..M. except on Saturday, as aforesaid.
SECTION. 3. Any person, whether owner or employe of a barber shop
who violates the terms of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon a conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not
more than One Hundred Dollars.

# 3765* AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE THE PUBLIC ALLEY RUNNING IN AN EASTERLY
AND WESTERLY DIRECTION BETWEEN LAFAYETTE STREET AND MARSHALL STREET.
WHEREAS, the State of Missouri is the owner of Inlota Nos. 193, 1949
1959 1969 197, 198, 199, and 200, and
AREAS, there is a public alley running in an Easterly and Westerly
direction between Lafayette Street and Marshall Street, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it expedient and proper to vacate
and discontinue the use of said public alley in order that the State of
Missouri may use the ground for the erection of buildings necessary for
the Missouri Penitentiary.
