AN ORDINANCE TO REgUI,�i.E TILE OWNERS OF ALL DOGS PERMITIZI) TO TO RUN AT LARGE IN THE CITY OF JEFFERSON TO PROCURE THE IMMUNIZATION OF SUCH DOGS AGAINST RABIES, MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO ISSUE A DOG LICENSE UNTIL AN I121UNIZATICN CERTIFICATE IS PRESENTED, AND AUTHORIZING THE IMPOUNDING AND KILLING OF ALL DOGS FOUND RUNNING AT LARGE WITHOUT PROPER LICENSE ATTACHED TO A COLLAR. JBE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON AS FOLLOWSt r -�'�SECTION. I. On and after the passage and approval of this Ordinance it shall be unlawful for the owner of any dog in the City of Jefferson to permit said 'dog to run at large, unless a dog license tag has been issued to the owner of said dog as now provided for by the Ordinances of 'tbb Oity of 'Jefferson, and unless such tag is securely attached to the collar worn by said dog. SECTION: 2'. Before a license tag shall be issued by the City Collector 'to the owner of any dog within the amity of Jefferson, it shall "be the duty of ' the owner to present to the City Collector a state- ment or certificate of a veterinarian that said dog has been immunized against rabies within thirty days from the date on which application for dog license shall be made. SECTION. 3. It is hereby made the duty of the City Dog Catcher or any Police Officer of the City of Jefferson to immediately take charge any dog found running about the streets without proper license tag, as herein provided, and to keep said dog in custody for a period of .- dayis, and unless the owner of said dog shall appear and comply with the provisions of this Ordinance, said doh; shall, after the time aforesaid be put to death by the proper Officials of the City of Jefferson. SECTION. 4. The Council hereby finds that the public health and welfare in the prevention of rabies requires the passage and enforce- ment of this Ordinance. PASSEDTHTS 6th. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE UOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, AS FOLLOWSt SECTION. I.
