Golf Course Advisory Committee Meeting
Wednesday - September 9, 1998

Minutes of the August 12, 1998, meeting reviewed and approved as written.
Old Business:
► The 1999 Budget will go before the City Council tomorrow, September loth. No further
information was made available to the Committee.
► The well is on line for drilling as soon as the contractor finishes an out-ot-state job.
► Dan advised that Public Works is receptive to providing hookups for drinking water. It
should require 4 meters at $42.00/month.
► Max Williamson pointed out that the golf course playability and condition of the course
have dramatically improved over any previous year. Accolades to Dan Pillard. The
committee wholeheartedly agreed.
New Business:
► Appointment of Chairman and Vice Chairman was discussed and tabled until the October
meeting.
Staff Reports:
► Dan Pillard updated the committee on golf course projects, including greens have been
aerated, sod repairs made, Cedar #6 green patched, and dead tree cleanup underway.
► Mary Clemmer reported that the restaurant operation continues to improve over last year.
► Carl Hoss reported that he is still working with the scorecard contractor and the printer.
The golf course operation also continues to improve over last year. He pointed out that
the golf course revenue figures are somewhat skewed as Labor Day weekend fell in
August last year as opposed to September. Next month's figures will reflect a truer
picture.
The next meeting is scheduled for October 14, 1998. Meeting adjourned.

Harry Simpson made the motion to set the 1999 fees as outlined; seconded by Jeanne
Campbell Jeff Goodman voted nay; the motion passed.

season. It is recommended to the City Council that they are to remain at:

► A written request from Roger Ross for refund of his ] 998 ¢eason pass due to _injury was
reviewed. The motion was made by JPatme Campbell, seconded by Ch akman Main
Williamson and pass..d unanimously that the City refund 1' i. ROSSs 1998 season Mass
(Mon.-Thurs) $300.00+tax, less $24.00+tax fin. 1 round played. This equates to a
$289.80 refund.
► A verbal request submitted by Jeanne Campbell from the Donnelly Merchants Association
asking to establish a weekly playing time for their organization was discussed. The
committee is in accord with the request and asks that Head Pro Carl Hoss do all he can to
accommodate this group, along with any future requests from other interested local
organizations. This should help increase our ,season pass sales as the Donnelly Merchants.
Association members have been buying their season passes and playing at Meadow Creek
in the past.
► Mike DeBoer of "In Idaho Vacation Services" is still interested in entering into contract
with the City of McCall to provide a tee time reservation service for their customers. The
Committee is not familiar with the program and will contact Mr. DeBoer to request that
he make a presentation at the December 1998 _meeting for consideration and
recommendation.
Staff Reports:
► Dan Piliard received a letter from Peter O'Neil regarding the low water level of the ponds
on Cedar at times over the summer. Dan advised this was done to save water costs and
help maintain the golf course and that the new well should eliminate this problem in the
future. Dan has so responded to Mr. O'Neill.
► Dan also reported that the City has fulfilled its obligation with the McCall Men`s Golf
Association for $4,900.00 to improve drainage: on the course in exchange for their monies
for cart path repair.

► Mary Clemmer reviewed her income figures `vith the Committee for the 1998 season to
date. She is presently ahead of last season's revenues and slightly ahead of 1993, her best
season. Mary advises she served 438 dinners under her 1998 program and this should
continue to increase in future years. The air conditioning has helped tremendously.
Carl Hoss provided a month -by -month revenue and play comparison for 1997 vs. 1998
seasons based on the City's fiscal year end. The City FYE 1998 was — $24.5M over FYE
1997. 1998 season pass and punch card sale,; were also reviewed with the
recommendation being made to eliminate punch cards for next year due to poor public
Teception. May and June rains withstanding, the 1998 golf season has been successful.
The meeting scheduled for November 1998 is cancelled by the Chairman because some committee
members will be out of town and the presentation from "In Idaho Vacation Services" can not be
scheduled for November as originally planned.
