HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-23-2013 COW Minutes Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop of the President and the Board of Trustees Held on September 23, 2013 In the Boardroom Mayor Collins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were: Trustee Rippy, Trustee Bonuchi, Trustee Fay, Trustee Lamb, Trustee Peck, and Trustee Racich. Others present: Traci Pleckham, Management Services Director; Michelle Gibas, Village Cler k; Allen Persons, Public Works Director; Dean Marquez, Building Supervisor; and John Konopek, Chief of Police. There was 1 person in the audience. Trustee Fay moved to approve the Minutes of the Special Meeting and Committee of the Whole Workshop held on September 9, 2013. Seconded by Trustee Racich . Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 Opposed. PRESIDENTIAL COMMENTS None. TRUSTEES COMMENTS Trustee Fay encouraged everyone to attend the Harvest 5K Event. Trustee Racich requested a future Committee of the W hole Workshop to discuss Village participation in Community Events. Trustee Peck: • Stated that he too would like to have a future discussion regarding community events. • Inquired about backyard chickens. Mr. Dean Marquez stated that there have been 2 app lications. Trustee Rippy encouraged everyone to attend the 5K run. Trustee Bonuchi commented on the Library fundraiser and the Historical Society Cemetery Walk and thanked everyone for the efforts. PUBLIC COMMENTS None WORKSHOP #1 POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Konopek reviewed the goals, staffing needs, and potential future staffing needs of the Police Department including the Community Service Division, Patrol Division, and Administrative Division. Chief Konopek reviewed the projection s on manpower needs and retirements. Mayor Collins thanked the staff for the presentation and read the reminders. Trustee Fay moved to adjourn. Seconded by Trustee Lamb . Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 Opposed. The meeting adjourned at 8:19 p.m. Michelle Gibas, Vi llage Clerk
