• AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING § 4 -72 OF THE GREENCASTLE
CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH A GREENCASTLE FIRE DEPARTMENT
SERVICE CHARGE ACCOUNT
BE IT ORDAINED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle, Indiana, that
§ 4 -72 of the Greencastle City Code is hereby established to read as follows:
a. FUND ESTABLISHED - There is hereby created and established, pursuant to I.C. 36 -8- 12 -13,
a service charge account to be designated as "The Greencastle Fire Department Service Charge Account ".
b. FEES - There are further established fees which may be collected by the Greencastle Fire
Department for the expense of clean -up when vehicles are involved in fire or hazardous material incident
or spill on a highway. Fees shall be established in accordance with the Indiana State Fire Marshal,
pursuant to Indiana Administrative Code (650 IAC 15 -1 -1) and shall be computed as follows:
For initial response with fire engine, trucks, or fire apparatus, Two Hundred Fifty dollars
is ($250.00).
2. For each hour or fraction thereof on- the -scene assistance, One Hundred Fifty dollars ($150.00).
3. For expendable materials such as absorption materials or other agents used in cleanup
operations, the actual replacement cost of those materials.
4. For collecting of debris, chemicals, fuel, or contaminated materials resulting from a spill, the
actual cost of removal and disposal at an authorized location.
c. COLLECTION OF FEES - Fees shall be collected pursuant to I.C. 36- 8- 12 -13. Fees collected
pursuant to this ordinance shall be deposited in a separate account to be known as the Greencastle Fire
Department Service Charge Account and shall be expended, with additional appropriation pursuant to I.C.
36- 8 -12 -13 for firefighting equipment or supplies.
d. RETENTION OF FUNDS - Money in the Greencastle Fire Department Service Charge Account
0 shall be kept in an account in a place and manner as directed by the Office of the City Clerk- Treasurer.
