TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA
PERTAINING TO BEACH PROTECTION
. Adopted: February 9, 1968
WHEREAS, the protection and restoration of beaches
along Florida's Atlantic coast is a matter of vital and important
concern to the citizens and residents of Florida, and for the
preservation of valuable assets for the use of both the people
of Florida and tourists; and
WHEREAS, the office of the Governor of Florida is
studying the problem of beach conservation and erosion and is
working with the State Department of Conservation, the United
States Corps of Engineers and members of the Florida Inland
Navigation District, on a proposed solution; and
11i'HEREAS, the Town of Gulf Stream has a vital stake at
issue because of erosion of beaches in the town limits;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE TOWN COMMISSION
OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAK'!, FLORIDA, in session assembled
February 9, 1968, as follows:
1. The Commission is heartily in accord with any
feasible plan that will protect the beaches on the Atlantic Ocear
from erosion and will restore them for the common good.
2. The Commission commends the Governor of Florida
and Mr. Nathaniel P. Reed, his Conservation aide, for their
efforts to find a solution to the problem.
3. It is hoped that enabling legislation will be
passed by the Legislature of Florida to provide funds for the
work of restoration of beaches.
4. Adoption of a comprehensive plan of restoration,
the passage of enabling legislation and the raising of funds
necessary for the work need immediate and thorough attention.
5. That copies of this resolution be sent to the
Governor of Florida, Mr. Nathaniel P. Reed, and to the

Chairman of the Legislative Delegation from Palm Beach
County and to other appropriate authorities.
