Amy called the meeting to order at 11:30AM.
She read letter from Brad Grane (attached) What are the advantages to be independent. She read
the motion from the BTF to city council. Paul reported on the city’s intent to put 3m in the general fund toward re-nourishment. Raising hotel/motel tax by 2 cents and monies from
SPLOST.
Frieda – what are the chances in asking for an amendment to allow the additional 2 cents to go to the beach re-nourishment and not be split with the tourism council.
Harry
– way city to levy a special purpose district. More businesses should be paying the hotel/motel tax, special purpose fee, which will add to the beach re-nourishment.
Jimmy Burke
– in new jersey have to pay to get on the beach. They pay $8.00 to get on the beach, pay to park, and pay 2mils to live at the beach.

Ft Screven – Joe Richardson – sent a letter to Col Hall
Lou – after last storm, a telephone pole broke off on the north side, middle of gulick. Asked Diane to look into it.

– another goin and old sea wall is exposed and between the jetty, old exposed sea wall is still exposed. In the area where the poles are, high on the beach,, where the tilling did
not occur due to vegetation growing, 4 dunes are starting to grow.
Frieda – can we send Brad Gane’s letter to Tybee Tourism. They are interested in helping us in our re nourishment
so they can have a better understanding of the funding.
