A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS,
IN SUPPORT OF THE REGION C WATER PLAN
WHEREAS, The 2006 Region C. Water Plan, adopted in December 2005 by the
Region C Water Planning Group, sets forth specific strategies for insuring this region has
an adequate water supply to serve its citizens and businesses through the year 2060; and
WHEREAS, the balanced, cost effective plan includes a wide range of water
management strategies such as increase conversation, reuse and recycle projects,
connection of existing supplies, and development of needed new sources of water,
including reservoirs; and
WHEREAS, current water supply in this region is inadequate to serve
significant portions of the region's population over the long tern; and
WHEREAS, a sustainable regional water supply is fundamental to the economic
• future of the region and state; and
WHEREAS, Texas' Water Planning Region C, comprising sixteen counties in
North Texas including the Fort Worth/Dallas metropolitan area, produces over 33% of
the state's GDP, and is home to over 25% of the state's population; and
WHEREAS, failure to meet the Region G Water Plan projected water demarfds
by 2060 will negatively impact the economy of the region. Without the implementation
of The Plan, job losses may total 691,000, annual incomes are projected to fall by 21°io,
sales volume is projected to decrease $96.7 million, and local and state tax revenue will
be reduced by $2.5 million.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COI'NCIL OF THE
CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS:
That the governing body of the City of Richland Hills, Texas supports the adoption and
implementation of the 2006 Region C Water Plan and all water management strategies
set forth in the plan.
