AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE BOROUGH OFFICIALS TO
APPROVE AND PARTICIPATE IN A NON - DISCRIMINATION POLICY
IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE VI OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT
OF 1964 AS AMENDED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE OPERATION
OF THE BOROUGH COMMUTER FERRY TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret is slated to be the recipient of grata funding
through NJ Transit for the purchase and operation of a commuter ferry vessel; and
WHEREAS, NJ Transit requires the Borough of Carteret to confirm that it complies with
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and that it will adopt and implement the policies set forth
in the attached document entitled Borough of Carteret, Ferry Service, Title VI Non -
Discrimination Policy (the "Policy "); and
WHEREAS, the Borough for itself and its duly established Carteret Port Authority wish
to adopt the Policy to confirm its compliance with laws prohibiting discrimination in the
operation of planned commuter ferry service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, Middlesex County, State of New Jersey, that the Borough hereby adopts the
attached Policy; and
PP IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and/or Appropriate Borough Officials
are hereby authorized to execute any documents required in connection with the same.
