The McCall "town deer herd" has gotten completely out of hand.
Here are some photos. The large buck nudged me in the butt wanting his hand -fed Twinkie
while I had my back turned while waxing skis in my garage. The does are regularly on my back
patio nibbling on the seeds on the ground from the bird feed we have hung as far up in the tree
as we can after they have knocked it down repeatedly. Throughout the Aspen Village
Condominium complex the deer are starving and are reduced to eating the needles and
branches off the conifers. I know this also is occurring throughout the City of McCall.
This needless suffering is disturbing to see. It is not natural. It is not safe. It has become a
substantial nuisance.
I am a life-long hunter so I know what the only solution is. The "town deer" population must be
drastically reduced. And humans must stop feeding it.
I also greatly resent potentially having to need scarce IDFG resources and my city tax dollars to
be devoted to this problem. It never should have been allowed to develop to this level by the
City of McCall (and its residents and visitors).
What can be done? Something must. And soon
