HomeMy Public PortalAbout19420505CCMeeting2,10 Savannah Beach, Georgia May 5, 1942 The regular meeting of Town Council was held today at 8:0Q P.M. in the Council Chamber, and was attended by Mayor Jones, who pre- sided, and Councilmen Walsh, Henry, Lynch, Lovell, Leopold. Mayor Jones read a communication from the Tybrisa Company offering to lease the Tybrisa Pavilion to the Town for 91,500, provided the Town would agree to certain things. After some discussion the matter was referred to the Chairman of the Finance Committee for handling. Mr. T. B. McCarroll presented application for a game to be known as "Bolletee ". Mr. Bergen stated that it was not the high - pressure gambling game, but was something on the order of "Bingo." That the ehecke would cost 5 cents each. Councilman Walsh moved that it be permitted to operate provided it did not constitute high- pressure gambling, and also that a license fee of 9100.00 "be charged. Council- man Leopold seconded and the motion passed. The Mayor informed Council that the Chamber of Commerce in an a.greemsn,t with the Town had decided to make Saturday, May 16th as the official opening day of the 1942 season, and the Chamber of Commerce would take care of the publicity, etc. He was advised that the out- side lighting as is now used would pass but that no bright lights shinning on the ocean would be permitted. He stated, of course, these instructions were subject to change as necessity demanded Councilman Lovell moved that bills representing prrchases for the month of April for general government amounting to $1457.45 and also bills for April purchases for the sewage account amounting to 490„Q be paid. Councilman Henry Seconded and the motion passed., Councilman Henry moved that for the ensuinvyear the Savannah Beach Public Library be allotted 918.33 per'month.
