noon, Councilman Biotin seconded and the motionrpassed.
Councilman Biotin moved that the following amendment to the
1941 tax ordinance be adopted, Councilman Leopold seconded
and the motion passed:
ORDINANCE.
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND that certain ordinance entitled
"An ordinance to provide for the taxaion of real and personal
property in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia
for the diseal year commencing May lag, 1941; and for other
purposes ", passed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in Council assembled,
on the lst day of April, 1941, by striking Section 2 in its
entirety from said Ordinance; and for other purposes.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Mayor and Councilmen
of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and it fiere by
enacted by the authority aforesaid that that eertaih'Ordinance
entitled, UAn Ordinance'to provide for the taxation of real
and personal property in rthe Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee
Island, Georgia, for the fiscal year commencing May lst, 1941;
and for other p vposes,0 be and the same is hereby amended by strik=
ing Section 2 in its ehtinsty from said Ordinance.
Section 2. Be it further enancted by the authority
afore said that all ordinances or parts of ordinances in con-
flict with this Ordinance be and the same is hereby repealed.
There being no trther business Council adjourned subject

The regular meeting of Council,was held to -day at 4;00 p.m.,
in the Council room, and was. attended by Mayor Jones, who pre-
sided, and Councilmen Walsh, Henry, Lynch, Slotin, Lovell,
Beopold, and Town Attorney Dutton.
The minutes of the meeting of September lst were read and
approved.
A letter was read from the Tybrisa Company protesting against
being charged interest on their past due taxes, which was re-
cently done when they made an on account payment of.$1500.00,
It was the opinion of Council that the interest charges Would
not be cancelled, but t#at if they paid all past due taxes
bar November 15th, 1942, the discount on all of 1942 taxes
would be allowed, after November 15th if the taxes were not
paid the property would be advertised foto sale.
The Mayor informed Council that the John D.Robinson Co; had

offered #20.00 per ton for the 4 and 6 inctt iron pipe that
the Town has on hand. Councilmen Henry moved tzat the Mayor
be authorized to sell the pipe for the best price t'at he
can get for it. Councilmen ^lotin seconded and the motion
passed.
Councilman Henry moved than the parking spaces charge be
diwoontined until next Spring, Councilman Leopold seconded
and the motion pagssed.
Councilman Slotin informed Counoil the Police oar (Pontiac)
had been repaired and reconditioned and that it would not
be necessary to buy a new car for the Police Department at
this time.
Councilman Slotin read the September financial statement to
Council and recommended that bills for purchases made during
September amounting to $ 953.90 for general government, and
bills for purchases made during September amount ing to $ 599.12
for the Sewaerage Account be paid. Councilman Walsh moved for
Payment Councilman Henry Seconded and the motion passed.
A petition was read from John Holly thru N,J,Frizzelle,jr.
requestting a refund OS $20.00 paid for a building license
Councilman Walsh moved that refund be granted Councilman
Henry Seconded and the motion passed.
Due to he war situation that was causing rising prices and
makings xtremely dltrigylt for the employees of the Town to
get along on theiVidistilies it was decided by Council on
motion made by Councilman Blottn, seconded by Councilman
Henry that salaries of the Clerk of Council,Chief of Police,
the two regular police officers, the Supt of Public Works,
and the driver of the Garbage Wagon be raided five per cent

Councilman Thomas F.Lynoh tendered his resignation as Coun
oilman to take effect at once due to hhs,being re- employed
by the United States Government Engineer Office he stated
that it was with a great deal of regret that hebvering
his connection with the Board as his relations with its
other members had always $ pleasant and co- operativea as
everyone . was working with We thought in mind and that`mas
for the best interests of Tybee. The Mayor, stating that
he was speaking for the Board and himself, Itglt that by
his lei, ng was creating a loss which would Mard to fill
and it t e hope of all that when hostilities ceased he
would again come back and resume his place that he so
capably held.
