HomeMy Public PortalAboutGAC Minutes 1997 04/09GOLF COURSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES April 9, 1997 Attending: Rick VanNoy Max Williamson Jeff Goodman Bill McMurray Jeannie Campbell (not present) Phil Gillman Minutes: Jeff made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 12th meeting , Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. New Business: Mike gave the committee a brief report on the March 27th City council meeting. Mike informed the committee that C.C. wanted Carl's input on the Fee Increases and that they wouldn't approve anything with out it. The Soft Spike issue was passed by C.C. and they thought it was great that Carl would sell the Spikes at cost this season. The Restaurant Policy needed more elaboration on Benefit and Non -Profit Groups. Mary said, she would be meeting with Ted Burton at the beginning of next week to get this written properly. The equipment Mike had proposed did not get approved for the 97 season. Mike was informed that the base figure is what would have to be approved and because it was higher than what was budgeted it couldn't be done. Old Business: Media Day Tournament for June 12th. Carl said, that day was open and that it would be perfect because it was close to the Best Ball. • Max made a motion to request that the Media Day Green Fees be waived for the June 12th event. Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. Bill said, he thought we could possibly get 10-15 people for this. Carl's Input on Fee Increases Carl gave a brake down on some fee increases. Those figures were relatively close to those the committee approved in their last meeting. The committee appreciated the time Carl took to come up with these figures. The committee said, that they would be gtayinp, with their initial proposal to the r..c Phil made a motion to request the re-establishment of the limited pass punch card at $200 for 10 rounds. The use of this card would be restricted to the card holder. vn9X-13141-2nd the motion and the motion did not pass. After discussion the committee agreed that this should be looked at for next season. Cancellation Policy for Tee Times Carl said, he would take a look at the amount of times people don't show for their tee times and would write up a Cancellation Policy for the committee to look at. Staff Report: Mike Combs Mike informed the committee that he and Randy would be blowing off the greens next week; that there were some Bird Houses constructed this winter that would hopefully control our mosquito population without the use of insecticides; working on getting bids or quotes on the air conditioning system for the Club House; Equipment bids would be going out in the next week for the budgeted amount. Mary Clemmer Mary said, that she had a couple of parties left in April; that she would be meeting with Ted Burton on Monday about the Restaurant Policy; also Lona Bell had called and said, the Crandell's had offered to buy her house. Mary said this would cause a problem as far as power for the snack shack. Mike said, that Wien the irrigation system goes in that we could probably get power from there. Carl Floss Carl asked the committee for their approval on a tournament of 100-120 people on Sat. June 28th with an 8:00 shotgun, this would replace the Humanitarian tournament on that date; He also would like to have a Women's' Pro -Am here on the 10th & 11"' of July, the field would be limited to 32 teams and it would be an 8:00 shotgun. The Committee supported these changes and additions to the toumament schedule. Carl said that he would be at the next City Council meeting re -guarding the Fee Increases. * Requires City Council Action
