HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 62-831 FOLLOWS: 1 1 ORDINANCE NO. 62 -83 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY AMENDING THE MUNI- CIPAL CODE SECTION 3306 TO SPECIFICALLY INCLUDE WEIGHT LIMIT SIGNS AS AN APPRO- PRIATE DESIGNATION OF TRUCK ROUTES THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN AS SECTION 1. Section 3306 of the Temple City Municipal Code is hereby amended by rewording said section to read as follows: "3306. Truck Routes. (a) Whenever any resolution of this City designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a stree . the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons, the City Traffic Engineer is hereby author• ized to designate such street or streets by appropriate signs such as "Truck Routes" or "Weight Limit Streets" for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons. b. When any such truck route or routes are established and designated by .appropriate signs the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons shall drive on such route or routes and none other, except that nothing in this section shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons coming from an appropriately designated truck route be it designated "Truck Route" or "Weight Limit Street" or by some other appropriate sign) having ingress and egress by direct route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pick- ups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any build, ing or structure located on such restricted streets or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets for which a building permit has previous- ly been obtained therefor. c. The provisions of this section shall not apply to (1) passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commis- sion, or to (2) any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public util. ity. d. Those streets and parts cf streets established by reso- lution of the Council are hereby declared to be truck routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons.
