HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-09-2013 COW MinutesMinutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop of the President and the Board of Trustees Held on December 9, 2013 In the Boardroom Mayor Collins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were: Mayor Collins, Trustee Racich , Trustee Rippy (7:02 p.m.), Trustee Bonuchi, Trustee Fay, Trustee Lamb, and Trustee Peck. Others present: Brian Murphy, Administrator; Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk; Allen Persons, Public Works Director; Michael Garrigan, Planning Supervisor; Dean Marq uez, Building Supervisor; Traci Pleckham, Management Services Director; Rick Kaczanko, IT Director; Amy De Boni, Community Relations Director; and John Konopek, Chief of Police. Trustee Fay moved to approve the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Worksh op and Executive Session held on November 9, 2013. Seconded by Trustee Peck . Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 Opposed. PRESIDENTIAL COMMENTS None TRUSTEES COMMENTS Trustee Fay expressed concern regarding the recent fire at Plainsman Terrace and request th at the staff look into fire hydrants. Trustee Lamb commented on the Regina Thakkar’s book signing and noted that the book was well written. PUBLIC COMMENTS Vicky Polito, resident, stated that the Regina Thakkar booking signing event was well attended and the book sold out. WORKSHOP MEETING #1 STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE The Village staff gave a presentation to the Village Board highlighting the pr ogress of the action items. The Village staff reviewed Transportation, Community Live/Identity, Business and Retai l Development, and Village Infrastructure. Mr. Garrigan presented concepts on gateway and wayfinding signage. Trustee Fay suggested incorporating branding into the signage. Trustee Lamb stated that he likes the limestone and dislikes the round signs. Trustee Racich stated that he prefers the rectangle and limestone signs. Mayor Collins suggested changing the sign in front of Walgreens. Trustee Bonuchi stated that the likes the rectangle sign with limestone. Trustee Peck stated that he prefers the r ectangle sign with limestone and requested that staff bring back some branding options. There was some general discussion regarding design guidelines. Trustee Fay suggested possibly resurrecting the Concept Committee and requested a future Committee of t he Whole Workshop to discuss design guidelines.
