HomeMy Public PortalAboutGAC Minutes 1996 04/16GOLF COURSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES April 16, 1996 Attending: Ted Whiteman Phil Gilman Jeff Goodman Rick VanNoy The members present viewed the impact of the water project construction prior to the meeting. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Whiteman at the McCall Golf Course Club House. Minutes: Jeff Goodman moved that the minutes of the February 20, 1996, meeting be approved as written. Phil Gilman seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. New Business: 1) Ted Whiteman introduced and welcomed Mike Combs, the new Golf Course Supt. 2) Humanitarian Sports Hall of Fame Golf Tournament request for reduction of green fees. The Committee held discussion of the request for reduced green fees for this Friday and Saturday tournament. Ted Whiteman moved that the Humanitarian Sports Hall of Fame pay the same fees as last year and that no discount be given. Rick VanNoy seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Old Business: 1) Irrigation System Update Background information was supplied to Committee Members by Ted Whiteman. Ted Whitman advised that everything looks good for this fall. 2) Snack Shack relocation or Food/Beverage Cart Feasibility The Committee discussed the costs/benefits of purchasing a small motorized unit, $4,200 used vs. $8,000 new. This was not budgeted for this fiscal year. The decision was reached to use the existing snack shack at its present location for this year and try a mobile cart on the new 9 holes to see how this would work. Jeff Goodman will check on the use of an ATV from one of the local dealers; Rick VanNoy will check on the cost of constructing a trailer to pull behind the ATV. Mary Clemmer will provide a schematic outline of the trailer configuration to meet her needs for consideration. Chairman Whiteman would like resolution of this issue by next month. 3) Clubhouse A.C. Installation Status Ted Whiteman advised that the feedback from City Council is that air conditioning is not in the budget for this year. This should be addressed in the budget for next year. It was suggested that the City Council members be invited to the Clubhouse for lunch during some really hot days this season. 4) Dress Code and Behavior Code Review After extensive discussion, the Committee recommended that the existing Golf Course Rules be amended to include the following provisions: GOLF COURSE RULES New Intoxication on the Golf Course is prohibited. New Appropriate golf attire on the golf course is required. 15. Operators must be 18 years of age and have a driver's license in order to drive a golf cart. (Note: This is a contractor issue and an insurance driven requirement.) 18. Non-playing public is prohibited on the golf course, with the exception of tournament galleries. 19. Appropriate behavior is required at all times on the golf course. Excessive noise, throwing of clubs, use or profane language, or any other bad conduct or offensive behavior will not be permitted on the golf course at any time and may mean expulsion from the golf course premises. 20. Walk-ons will be accommodated if space is available. TEE TIME RESERVATIONS 3. Life -Time Passholders a. Week Days: Tee times may be made one (1) week in advance. b. Weekends/Holidays: Tee times may be made two (2) weeks in advance. WAIVER OF GOLF FEES POLICY 3. Deleted 5) Water Project and Construction Impact The Committee has been on site. Mike Combs was asked to address each problem individually and outline how it should be fixed, including pictures. Mike is also to arrange to get the contractor on site as there is a potential for losing revenue if this is not completed in a timely manner Ted Whiteman advised that the Golf Committee will provide any needed support to Mike Combs. 6) Clarification of Marshal hours The Committee has supported increasing the total hours in the marshalling line item in the Professional Contract from 750 to 1,500 per season with the City to fund the additional hours. Ted advised that this was not budgeted for, but that the professional services line item from the budget can be used. '7) Chipping Green Status A few of the trees have been taken out but it has been too wet to continue. 8) Clubhouse Painting Project Apple Tree Painting has given a bid. Mike Combs is in the process of securing more bids for this project. 9) The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting was scheduled for May 8, 1996.
