The Mayor informed Council that he received a letter from Congressman Petersen informing him that he was working on the request for additional pipe for the Sewer System, and that Senator George informed him that he had wired Mr. Ray to approve the request for additional pipe, the Mayor also, informed Council that Mr. Toms, the FWA Engr. in Savannah didn't like the political angle of the request, the Mayor stated he didn't intend any discourtesy. The Mayor informed Council that the Town had been given between seventy and eighty thousand bushels of Oyster shells, by a good friend, these shells being located near Beaufort, S. C. and he 291. was endeavoring to find some way to get them to Tybee. The Mayor informed Council that he had called on Co. Carmody, Commanding Officer at Fort 8ereven and found him very nice, he stated that the Colonel expects work on the Groins and Seawall to go through. A Bill was presented by Mr. Cecil Miles covering rent on machinery used during the time the WPA was constructing the Sewer System, and for several other small amounts, the amount of the bill being $53.53, it was the opinion of Council that the Town did not owe this. Councilman Biotin moved bills for purchases made for General Goverment during the month of September amounting to 090.91 be paid, Councilman Young seconded and the motion passed. Councilman Young moved that Periodical estimate #3 submitted by the J. G. Attaway Construction Co. for work done on the Sewer System for the month of Septebber amounting to $17,188.95 be paid, Councilman Henry seconded and the motion passed. The Mayor informed Council that in connection with the Water Line that has been run down 11th Street over to Shorty's Hammock to furnish water for the Diving School, this line is tied into the Tybee Water Works line at Butler Ave. and 11th Street, the meter is located at Jones (third) Ave. and 11th Street, and under the arrangement with the Tybee Water Works, they are to bill the Town for water furnished the Diving School at cost, we to bill Fort Screv en. It was the opinion of Council that when bills are incurred for Servicing the Police Car,that unless an emergency exists and where it could not be done at the Town lot, that the employee having the work done without authorization, will have the amount of the bill deducted from his pay, 292 Councilman Slotin moved -that the collection of Tolls at the Parking - Spaces be discontinued until next April lst, .Council- man Henry seconded and the motion passed. Councilman Slotin moved that effective with the November meeting the hour be changed from S:30 P.M to 5:00 P.M, the first Thursday in each month, Councilman Lovell seconded and the motion passed. Councilman Young informed Council that at the present time, the number of Convicts at the Camp were less than the.number of white Men employed at the Camp, and asked what he should do, it was the opinion of Council that the matter be left to the Chair- man of the Public Works committee. The Mayor stated he would see Judge Houlihan in an effort to get some more men. There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor. The regular meeting of Council was held today at 5:00 P.M. and was attended by Mayor Jones who presided, Councilmen Walsh, Henry, Young, Slotin, Lovell, Leopold and Town Engineer.Vinson. The minutes of the meeting of October 7th were read and approved. The Mayor informed Council that most of the Streets at the present time are in bad shape, caused in most cases by the laying of the sewer lines for the Sewerage System, and
