OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET, COUNTY
OF MIDDLESEX, NEW JERSEY, REFERRING AMENDMENTS
TO THE CHROME WATERFRONT REDEVELOPMENT PLAN
TO THE PLANNING BOARD FOR REVIEW AND COMMENT
WHEREAS, the Borough is authorized pursuant to the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law,
MJ.SA. 40A: 12A -1 at seq. (the "Redevelopment Law ") to determine whether certain parcels of
land within the Borough constitute an "area in need of redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution adopted in January 2003, the Municipal Council of the Borough (the
"Borough Council") designated the area including the parcels formerly identified as Block 5.02,
Lots 1.01, 1.02 and 2.01 on the Official Tax Maps of the Borough '(collectively, the
"Redevelopment Area ") as an area in need of redevelopment under the Redevelopment Law; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Council previously adopted an ordinance approving and adopting that
certain redevelopment plan, prepared by Schoor Depalma, Inc., for the Redevelopment Area
entitled `Redevelopment Plan Chrome Waterfront Redevelopment Area," dated February 2003,
which plan was subsequently amended by Ordinance 11 -2 adopted on June 16, 2011 (as
amended, the "Redevelopment Plan "); and
WHEREAS, at the direction of the Borough, Beacon Planning and Consulting, LLC (the
"Planning Consultant") prepared an amendment to the Redevelopment Plan (the "Amended
Redevelopment Plan"), a copy of which is on file with the Borough Clerk, which amended plan
expands the uses and bulk standards set forth in the Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Council now desires to refer the Amended Redevelopment Plan to the
Borough Planning Board for its review and comment, in accordance with NJS.A. 40A:12A -7 of
the Redevelopment Law.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret,
as follows:
I. The aforementioned recitals are incorporated herein as though fully set
forth at length. .
2. The Borough Council hereby refers the Amended Redevelopment Plan to
the Planning Board for review and recommendation in accordance with
the requirements ofNJSA. 40A:12A -7(e).
3. The Clerk of the Borough shall forward a copy of this Resolution to the
Planning Board for review pursuant to N.LS.A. 40A: 12A -7(e).
4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
