The regular meeting of Council was held today at 4=00 P.M. and was attended by Mayor Jones who presided, and Councilmen Walsh, Henry, Young, Biotin, Leopold, Lovell and Town Attorney Dutton. The minutes of the meeting of January 13th were read and approved. The matter of employing personel for operation of the Treatment Plant was discussed, Councilman Young estimated that it would require at least three men probably four to operate the plant, two of whom would be colored helpers. The name of A. C. Carter was suggested as the plant operator. Mayor Jones informed Council that the selection of operator and men be left to the Sewerage Committee, no action was taken at this time Councilman Biotin requested as to how long it will be necessary to keep Mr. Vinson on the job, he was informed that Vinson's work would be through by April 30th. The Mayor stated that at the present time Mr. Vinson was making a survey, drawing plans etc for the construction of the proposed Public Play Grounds. Mayor Jones informed Council that Councilmen Leopold and Henry had tendered their resignation due to pressure of business. Both of these gentlemen informed Council that they regretted that it was necessary that they take this step, but it was some- . thing over which they had no control and which they were reluctant to do. All the menbers of the Board expressed regret at their leaving, Stating that their relations had always been so pleasant, Councilman Lovell moved that their resignation be accepted with regret, Councilman Biotin seconded and the motion passed. Mayor Jones stated that he would entertain a motion for the X13 14 election of Joel T. Farrell & B. P. Hosti as Councilmen to fill the unexpired terms of Councilmen Leopold and Henry, Councilman Walsh seconded and the motion passed. The Oath of office was administered to Mr. Farrell. OATH I, Joel T. Farrell, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and honestly perform the duties of Councilman of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, to the best of my skill and ability without favor or, affection, SO HELP ME GOD. • ( i 1ie�1 inc=h I a V e, J ( Councilman Farrell was welcomed to the Board and he stated that he looked forward to working with all of them with a great deal of pleasure. Councilman Walsh wanted to know when the bad condition of the streets will be corrected. He was advised that some of the Contractors equipment was disabled, which was holding up the streets. The Mayor stated that in a number of places the Street Signs were down but that it would be well to wait until the Attaway Co. finished their work, also the Police Department needs some signs and the Pipe Railing on the walks in the Park- ing areas needed to be worked over and painted. Councilman Biotin stated that the Play Ground it is proposed to erect should not cost over $1000.00. Councilman Biotin moved that bills for purchases made during the month of January amounting to $ 450.43, for General Government be paid, Councilman Young seconded and the motion passed.
