Farrell Chairman Vice Chairman There being no further business, Council adjourned, subject to the call of the Mayor. 15 Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga. February 10, 1944. A special meeting of Council was held today at 3:30 P.M. and was attended by Mayor Jones who presided, and Councilmen Young, Farrell and Hosti. The following oath was administered to Councilman elect Benno P. Hosti: OATH I, Benno P. Hosts, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and honestly perform the duties of Councilman of the Town of 16 Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, to the best of my skill and ability without favor or affection, 80 HELP ME GOD. 6f1 Councilman Hosti was welcomed to the Board. The meeting was called for the transaction of the follow- ing business; (a) Adopt Resolution accepting the Offer FWA of $15,885.00 additional funds to complete Sewerage Project, Ga. 9 -244. (b) Hear petition of B. J. Alexander requesting transfer of Liquor License from the Novelty Bar, by B. J. Alexander to the Novelty Bar, by T. B. MoCarroll. (0) Hear Petition of B. J. Alexander to be issued a Whiskey License on a pro -rated basis to April 17,1944, to operate the place known as Riptide, 16th Street and Strand. The Mayor presented the Grant Offer of the FWA dated February 2, 1944 as follows: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FEDERAL WORKS AGENCY GRANT OFFER Washington, 25, D.C. Project No.Ga.9 -244 Dated Feb. 2,1944 Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Savannah Beach, Georgia. Subject to the terms and conditions (FWA Form No. W -100, dated October 15, 1943) attached hereto and made a part hereof, the United States of America (herein called the "Government ") hereby offers to make you a grant of $150,843 to aid in Financing the acquisition and Construction of Public Works consisting of Sewerage Facilities, including necessary land (herein called the " Project"),' at the presently estimated cost to you of $155,308: Provided, however, that if the actual cost to you of the Project upon completion, as determined by the Federal Works Administrator, is less than the presently estimated cost specified above, the grant shall be reduced to an amount which bears the same ratio to said actual cost as the amount of the grant specified herein bears to the said estimated cost. This Offer is subject to the special condition that you shall install all laterals for house connections as rapidly as each portion of the collection system facilities of the Project is sufficiently complete to permit such installation.• 17 The Offer dated April 28, 1943 and June 26, 1943 made by the Government to you have been revoked. The Offer dated August 26, 1943 is hereby revoked unless it has been previously accepted by you in which event your acceptance of this Offer shall effect- uate a cancellation of the contract created by said acceptance of said prior Offers Provided, that the cancellation of such con- tract shall not impair or vitiate any acts performed or proceed- ings taken thereunder prior to such cancellation, but such acts or proceedings may be continued under the contract created by the acceptance of this Offer. Councilman Young moved that the following Resolution accept- ing the Grant Offer be adopted, Councilman Farrell seconded and the motion passed. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, there has been filed with the Federal Works Agency for and in behalf of the 4ayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, herein called the owner, an application for federal assistance under the War Public Works Program, and the United States of America, acting by and through the Federal Works Administrator, has transmitted to the owner an offer of federal assistance in connection with the public works referred to in said application and described in said offer; and WHEREAS, said offer has been duly read in open meeting of Council and has been fully considered in accordance with the pertinent rules s -of procedure and legal requirements, and made a part of the owner's public records; and WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable and in the public interest that said offer be accepted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, in council assembled, that the said offer, a true and correct copy of which, including the terms and conditions, is hereto attached, be and the same is hereby accepted without reservations or qualification. Councilman Young moved that the petition of B. J. Alexander requesting that the Whiskey License #157, issued to Novelty Bar, by B. J. Alexander be transferred to the Aovelty Bar, by T. B. McCarroll, Councilman Hosti seconded and the motion passed. The petition of B. J. Alexander that he be permitted to sell whiskey at the location known as Riptide, 16th Street and Strand and that the whisky license be pro -rated to April 17, 1944, and his Beer and Soft Drink License be pro -rated to April 30, 1944 was presented, Councilman Young moved that the petition be granted, Councilman Hosti seconded and the motion passed. There being no further business, Council adjourned subject to the gall of the Mayor. Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga. February 21, 19l4. A special meeting of Council was held today at 6 :00 P.M. and was attended by Mayor 'ones who presided and Councilmen Farrell, Hosti,and Young. The meeting was called for the purpose of adopting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to request a change order from the Federal Works Agency under Project Ga. 9 -244, for additional Sewer Lines, the cost to provide said Sewer Lines and the exten- sion of 75 days to the J G. Attaway Company to complete the additional contract. Councilman Young moved that the following resolution be adopted, Councilman Host/ seconded and the motion passed. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the J. G. Attaway Construction Company was awarded a contract to complete the sanitary sewerage system in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia; and WHEREAS, there are certain essential sewer lines within said municipality that were not included in the original pro- ject and contract, the iodation and description of said sewer lines being hereto attached: and WHEREAS, there Will be additional cost in said contract for the completion of the essential additional sewer lines, a breakdown of said costs being hereto attached and made a part hereof; and WHEREAS`, the contractor, the J. G. Attaway Construction Company, will require additional time of seventy -five (75) days in order to complete the additional sewer lines; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen . of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island-, Georgia, in Council assembled, that the Mayor be and.he:is hereby authorized to request a change order from the ederal Works Agency on Project No. Ga. 9-214 (NP') for additionar essential sewer lines, the cost to provide said sewer lines . and the extension of seventy- five (75) days to the J. G. Attaway Construction Company to complete the additional contract.
