APPROVAL TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION AND EXECUTE A GRANT
CONTRACT WITH THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR
THE CARTERET WATERFRONT MULTI -USE PATHWAY PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey desires to apply
to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for grant funding under the 'transportation
Alternatives Set -aside Program; and
WHEREAS, the Carteret Waterfront Multi -Use Pathway Project meets all the criteria necessary
to receive funding under the Transportation Alternatives Program; and
WHEREAS, the Carteret Waterfront Multi -Use Pathway Project will encourage alternative
modes of transportation, enhance the travel experience, improve open space and smart growth,
and improve the quality of life for the residents of the Borough of Carteret; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret agrees to assume a commitment of maintenance of the
project after construction is completed; and
WHEREAS, responsibilities for administering the proposed project in accord will) federal and
state guidelines (to be known as the Responsible Charge) will be John DuPont, a full-time
employee of the Borough of Carteret; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret fully supports the proposed Transportation Alternatives
project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ,RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Clerk of the Borough of
Carteret, State of New Jersey, authorizes the Mayor to submit an electronic grant application
identified as "TA-2023-Carteret Wateffiont Multi -Use Pathwa-00072" to the New Jersey
Department of Transportation under the Transportation Alternatives Set -aside Program on behalf
of the Borough of Carteret.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to sign the
grant agreement on behalf of the. Borough of Carteret and that their signature constitutes
acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant agreement and approves the execution of the
grant agreement.
Certified as a true copy of the Resolution adopted by the Borough Council
on this 6" day of October, 2022
