Under the CARES Broadband Program, The City of McCall is eligible to receive an apportionment of CARES Act funding distributed through the State of Idaho, Department of Commerce. On August 26, 2020, the Idaho Dept of Commerce announced that The City of McCall has been approved for $771,063 in CARES Act funding. Funds can be used for a wide range of operations, maintenance and capital improvement projects. This funding will be used to install and splice fiber throughout the entirety of conduit already in the ground (~12 miles), Provide wireless in 5 separate locations across the City for public access for distance learning and complete the bid alternate route of the Buried Conduit, Phase 2 project. These funds are required to be spent on shovel ready projects that can be completed before December 15, 2020. Staff believes that this deadline can be met for the projects outlined above. The reviewed Agreement will come back to Council for approval on the September 10, 2020 Council Meeting.  RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve acceptance of the grant amount ($771,063) subject to review of the grant agreement by the City Attorney.
