SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Contractor is currently mobilized and under a separate contract for the Brown Park Shoreline Slope Stabalization Project. The department is currently funded to replace and re-locate
the existing play structure in the spring. It will be a cost savings to get the preliminary site work and grading done this fall while we have a contractor mobilized at the site now.
Additional cost savings will come through the re-use of unstuitable landscape boulders for the shoreline work that will work for retainage around the play ground. This will also give
the site a winter to settle and compact before the playground installation in the spring. This work is outside of the contractors current contract for the shoreline work and will be
funded through a separate funding source. (Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant and Local Option Tax Funding under a Council Approved CIP). We are also building in a 12% contingency
to cover unknown sub surface site conditions should they exist given the history of the old saw mill site.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the Contract for Services with Falvey’s LLC plus a 12% change order amount to grade and prepare site for the new play structure and pathway re-alignment to be installed in the
spring and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
