SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Local governments with 50 or more employees are required to adopt and publish procedures for resolving grievances arising under Title II of the ADA. A Grievance procedure sets out a
system for resolving complaints of disability discrimination in a prompt and fair manner. Once the City establishes this grievance procedure under the ADA, it will be distributed to
all department heads. Copies will be posted in public spaces of public buildings and on the City’s website. It will also be published in the Star-News
As direct recipients of federal-aid dollars, we must have our own Title VI program, or we will not be eligible to receive any federal-aid dollars. In 2010 Council Adopted an ADA Non-Discrimination
Statement and ADA Grievance Procedure, it is time to update those procedures. Attached is Resolution 20-26 adopting an ADA Non-Discrimination Statement and an ADA Grievance Procedure
updates.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Resolution 20-26 adopting an ADA Non-Discrimination Statement and an ADA Grievance Procedure and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
