HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 63-108ORDINANCE NO. 63 -108 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY AMEND- ING THE BUSINESS LICENSE ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY TO PROHIBIT IMMORALITY IN LICENSED ENTERTAINMENT: PROVIDING REVOCATION PROVISIONS IN RESPECT TO IMMORAL ENTERTAINMENT AND ADOPTING AMENDMENTS TO SAID ORDINANCE CONSISTENT WITH CHANGES MADE BY THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO ORDINANCE #5860 ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY AS ITS BUSINESS LICENSE ORDINANCE THE C RTY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDA I s''! AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 5860 of the County of Los Angeles - as adopted by Ordinance No. 60 -10 of the City of Temple City is amend- ed as follows: (a) Section 2015.1 is added to read as follows: "2015,1. No entertainment shall contain any words, phrases, gestures, signs, paintings or articles which are indecent, lewd or obscene or suggest fornication, prostitution, or homosexuality. (b) Sections (K), (L) and (M) are added to Section 92 to read as follows: "(k) An entertainment license may be revoked in the event any entertainment is performed which. contains indecent langu- age, or lewd or indecent conduct. (1) An entertainment license may be revoked in the event any entertainment is performed which reasonably suggests fornication, homosexuality or any obscene or lewd conduct. (m) An entertainment license may be revoked if any enter- tainment suggests vulgar reference to the private parts of the human body." SECTION 2. Changes in Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 5860 by Los Angeles County Ordinances Nos. 8269, 8283 and 8285 are hereby adopted and approved and incorporated in and made a part of Ordinance No. 5860 by reference as heretofore adopted by the City of Temple City by Ordinance No. 60 -10. SECTION 3. The City Council finds that this ordinance is fo- the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the City of Temple City. The City Council expressly finds as follows: (a) This ordinance is necessary to preserve the morals of 'i the people of the City of Temple City. (b) This ordinance is necessary to regulate acts and prac- tices which are immoral or indecent and if unabated have the tendency to promote immorality and indecency. (c) The kind of morality that may satisfy other areas in Los Angeles County is not the standard by which Temple City shall be guided, it being common knowledge that the level of entertainment in Los Angeles County varies from the cheap and vulgar to the very finest. (d) The general welfare of the people of Temple City de- --- mends that this ordinance shall be enacted and become effec- tive forthwith. SECTION 4.
