Call to order and roll call: Chairman Whiteman called the
meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.
Ted Whiteman introduced the City Manager, Gary Shimun to the rest
of the Committee.
Frank Brown moved to approve the minutes of the July 6, 1994
meeting. Rick VanNoy Second. Motion carried.
Old Business:
1. Treasure Valley Women's Amateur
Judy Barkley presented a financial report from the Treasure
Valley Ladies Golf Association for 1993. The question was
raised as to whether the Association is aware of the five
dollar charge for tournament entries. Judy Barkley was not
sure and said she would report that at the next meeting.
2. Golf Course Monies to City
Carl Hoss presented a printout comparing money received to
date in 1993 and 1994. See Attachment
3. 1995 Budget
After some discussion about the budget figures presented to
the committee a question was raised about the operating
transfer line item totalling nearly $25,000. Mr. Shimun
implied that $25,000 is not an unrealistic figure, but said
he would have a look at it further to be sure. The other
question was pertaining to the dollar amount the Golf Course
is charged for irrigation water.
Frank Brown moved to recommend to City Council to approve
the Capital Expenditures as listed subject to available
funds. Rick Vannoy second. Motion carried unanimous.
New Business:
1. Irrigation Engineer R.F.P
Committee agreed unanimously that the first step to take
would be to find out how much an irrigation system
installation will cost. In order to do this we need an
engineer to draw a plan and estimate cost.
Rick VanNoy moved to recommend to City Council to budget
up to $60,000 of the reserve fund for the 1995 season for
capital improvements on a new irrigation system. Frank
Brown second. Motion carried.
Staff Reports:
Carl Hoss: inquired about the possibility of having 5-somes on
the course. He contends that this would allow for an extra green
fee per tee time. The committee agreed but also mentioned the
fact that we just initiated a fast play policy and if 5-somes
slow up play they will rethink the issue.
Charlie Denham: Mentioned that they are having problems with
excessive non-playing public on the course in the evenings. This
poses problems not only in safety but also in a increase in
vandalism.
The committee would like to look into ways to recognize any and
all contributors to the McCall Golf Course. This item will be on
the November meeting agenda.
With no further business meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
