IMayor Hyder presided. 1 i;Prayer was offered by Mayor Hyder. !!Councilmen present: Borgmeyer, Gordon, Hartsfield, McDowell, ;i Rackers, Whitecotton and Wildhaber. :'Councilmen absent: Brant, Hager and Robinson, absent with leave. A quorum was declared present. - - - - - - - - - - PThe Special Meeting was called to consider the contract for the ,jconstruction of the new Police Station. - - - - - - - - - - Police ':Councilman Whitecotton, Chairman of the Police Department Committeej,' Department !!presented the following report of the Committee meeting: Committee ;j Report- !!The Police Department Committee met at Police Headquarters at if 1: P.M. , Tuesday June 6th, 1978, with all members present. ;'Also present were 601. Patton, Thomas Benton Director of Planning 1i ' and,land Code Enforcement, and Charles Brzucbalski of the i'Firm of Jablonski and Associates . Following a review and discussion on the insurance data ,;submitted by Winter Dent & Company, Dr. Brant moved that action be ' delayed until Police Professional Liability Insurance could be J ti .,ichecked through the National League of Cities . The motion secondedi;t, 1 I 11by Mr. Wildhaber was unanimously adopted. :1 Dr. Brant is to make the inquiry and report to the Committee. 11 i Col. Patton provided each Committee Member with a copy of the ;'bidders base bids and a numerical listing of the bid items on the Building for ease of comparison. Mr. Benton provided a report indicating the bidders estimate ' of calendar days for construction; the grand total bids and bid litems I and 15, both of which indicated a wide variance in costs and could be deleted for possible rebid, with some of the work on !,these two items being done by Public Works . The deletion of these items , 1 and 15, would reduce the ! contract amount to $1,773 051.00 for Bennish Const. Co. 1,749 000.00 for Prost Builders 1 ,778,000.00 for Robert Wright, Inc. ,.Mr. Wildhaber moved the deletion of bid items I and 15 and the a p proval of the low bid of $1, 749,000.00 submitted by Prost tBuilders for the construction of the Police Building, in accordance; ,iwith bid specifications as provided. The motion seconded b Miss McDowell was unanimously adopted. IMr. Wildhaber then moved triat the Committee recommend that the it IlRevenue Sharing Funds for the next two years be allocated to the JPolice Building. Whitecotton, Chairman. lCouncilman Wildhaber moved that the Police Committee report be iadopted, and by that report the Council agrees to award the contract for the building of the New Police Station to the Prost Construction ,lCompany, Inc. , for the sum of $1 ,749,000.00. Motion seconded by !
