Commission) The Plat was referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission. - - - - - - - - - - ', Councilman Whitecotton, Chairman of the Police Committee, presentedi the following report: ,, The Police Committee met at Police Headquarters at eight A.M. , ;; Thursday, December 22, 1977, with all members present; Chief Pattoni Police ; was also present. Committee'; Following a review and discussion on the proposed purchase of Report.'11twelve (12) police vehicles and the disposition of one (1) 1974 ; Ford LTD two (2) door sedan; three (3) Y976 Chevrolet Impala four ; (4) door sedans and eight (8) .1977 Ford LTD four (4) door sedans, I ; Mr. Hartsfield moved the acceptance of the bid of Capitol City Ford Inc. , to furnish twelve (12) 1978 Ford LTD (4) door sedans, without - trade-in, at a total cost of seventy-two thousand fifty-six dollars and fifty-one cents ($72,056.51) . The motion, seconded by Dr. Brant, was unanimously approved. Dr. Brant then moved that the Council consider the use of certain of the present vehicles by city employees in lieu of the auto allowance and the sale of the remaining vehicles at public auction, or through sealed bids . The motion, seconded by Mr. lWildhaber, was approved. There being no further business , the Committee adjourned. Respectfully submitted, IBI Thomas E. Whitecotton, Chairman. Councilman Whitecotton moved that the report be filed. Motion passed . !;) Councilman Whitecotton, Chairman of the Special Committee on Furniture Furniture and Fixtures , presented the following report : and ! The Special Committee on Furniture and Fixtures for City offices, Fixtures Imet at 11:00 a.m. , Tuesday, January 3, 1978, at the office of Committee Planning and Code Enforcement, with all members present. Also Report. present were: Thomas Benton, Director, and James Hartley , Supervisor Parking Authority. The request of Mr. Benton to purchase a Four Drawer, legal size filing cabinet; two swivel chairs ; two straight chairs ; a small corner table, and the refinishing of four straight chairs , was approved on motion of Mr. Borgmeyer, subject to first deter- mining the availability of these items through the Surplus Property Office. Mr. Hartley asked for authority to purchase a typewriter; cash register; one (1) 30x60 all steel desk; two swivel chairs and one (1) card file cabinet. Following a discussion, it was agreed that Mr. Hartley would check with the City Clerk's office, for any available unused, satisfactory property of this nature, and the' other regular sources of supply of these items for prices , availa- bility and specifications, after which another meeting of the Committee would be called. Mayor Hyder introduced Bruce Ring, Jr. , and Warren Stieferman, who {;Scouts are working on merit badges for the Boy Scouts , to the Council. j f t�Councilman Hager, Chairman of-the-Fire Committee, presented the 11following report: Due to the retirement of Assistant Fire Chief Fred Putnam, I hereby ,; submit for your approval the following promotions in rank: Captain Donald Thompson to Assistant Fire Chief Lieutenant John Gordon to Captain `Fire Driver James Nichols to Lieutenant iCommittee Fireman Donald Loveall to Driver. ;Report. Motion passed, 3 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ;Councilman Borgmeyer presented the following for Council approval: !Appointment Please be advised that the Jefferson City Electrical Board met on Electrical Thursday, December 29, 1977, to interview David L. Scott, for the ..Inspector. position of Electrical Inspector, The Board recommends that you appoint Mr. Scott, 1609 Beverly, Jefferson City, Missouri, as Electrical Inspector for the City of Jefferson. We request that he be paid $12,200 per annum, and that the !' lMappointment be made effective January 16, 1978. Enclosed please find a copy of Mr. Scott s resume. II Motion passed, ;? _ - - - - - _ - _ - Mayor Hyder informed the Council that he had received a report of j the Public Service Commission, addressed to the Vice President of the Capital City Telephone Company. It is an Order by the Public Service Commission directing an investigation of the rates of the Capital City Telephone Company. It was ordered that the Secretary ;;Rates of of the Commission serve a certified copy of this Order of notice of''Capital investigation to the Mayors of each City and County Court of each 'City County involved, The City of Jefferson is directly involved . !Telephone Councilman Hager moved that the City Attorney represent the '!Company. City of Jefferson at the hearings . Motion passed, Councilman Hartsfield took no part in the discussion. Mr. McKinney informed her that it does, ,, according to the Ordinance. Councilman Whitecotton replied that a vehicle does not have to be licensed unless operated on public thoroughfares . Bill No. 116 was read the third time by title. Councilman Brant wondered about the definition of the word "nuisance" and also how newspapers and "Shopper" would fall under ( nuisance. Bill 116.;1 Mayor Hyder said that a nuisance is offensive to the eye or I Amending ilother senses . The City should either buy another camera for hire full-time personnel to do the microfilming.
