AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF THE CARTERET GENERAL
ASSISTANCE (WELFARE) PROGRAM TO THE COUNTY OF
MIDDLESEX
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") has
administered the Work First New _Jersey / General Assistance (WFN_]/GA)
Program and the Mayor and Council have determined that it is in the best
interest of the Borough of Carteret to transfer the administration of said
program to the Middlesex County Board of Social Services; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have duly considered this
matter in consultation with the Social Service/Welfare Director.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council
of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Oersey as
follows:
1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a Letter of
Intent to Consolidate the Work First New .lersey / General
Assistance Program with the Middlesex County Board of
Social Services.

2. The Borough of Carteret shall transfer the Work First
New Jersey / General Assistance (WFN_]/GA) Program to the
Middlesex County Board of Social Services as soon as the
Board can assume responsibility for the Borough's current
case load.
3. The appropriate Borough officials are hereby
authorized to execute a Memorandum of Understanding, or
other required agreement(s), for the transfer of the Work
First New .Jersey / General Assistance Program to the County
of Middlesex and to take such steps as may be necessary to
implement said transfer in accordance with the requirements
of the Middlesex County Board of Social Services.
4. The Carteret Social Service / Welfare Director shall
render such assistance as may be required in conjunction
with said transfer.
5. That a certified copy of this Resolution and a copy of
the executed Letter of Intent to Consolidate be forwarded to
the Middlesex County Board of Social Services and the New
Jersey Division of Family Development.
