Williams, 1216 East High ' arkirg and Street, requesting additional parking in the vicinity of his home. The request was referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission.:; i- - Mayor Hyder presented the following to the Council : On this morning, Monday, November 1, I was advised that many employees of the Department of Public Works , Street Department, Transit Department, and Sewer Department, had not reported for duty,1� nor given any cause to their Department Heads for such absence. I advised the Department Heads that those employees, who willfully absented themselves from their duty, without cause, should ' be discharged, and authorized such Department Heads to employ acting employees to take care of the essential governmental functions performed by those absent. I request the concurrence of the Council in this action. Respectfully submitted, /s/ Robert L. Hyder, 4 Mayor. Councilman Wildhaber moved that if the striking City Employees did ilStriking not report for work in the morning that the Council concur with ; City recommendations of the Mayor. Motion was seconded by Councilman ,Employees . Whitecotton. + Councilman Robinson requested that action be delayed by one day. i Councilman Brant agreed with Councilman Robinson, but asked that the deadline be noon following the Council meeting. Councilman Wildhaber requested that the vote be taken on his motion. Regular Council Meeting, November 1, 1976 . pCounailman Whitecotton, Chairman of the Police Committee, presented ! lithe following report : The Police Department Committee met at the Police Department Headquarters today, Monday, November 1, 1976, at 12:30 P.M. , with R members McDowell, Wildhaber and Whitecotton present. Chief Patton was also present. The Committee unanimously approved the request of Chief Patton . to use the same specification for the purchase of the 1977 Police vehicles that were used in the 1975 purchase of the 1976 Police Police vehicles . Committee These specifications would eliminate the 1977 Chevrolets , due Report to the fact to include the 1977 Chevrolets would open the bidding to Ford, Chrysler, American Motors and other auto manufacturers to bid compact vehicles . Chief Patton informed the Committee that this situation would ` be eliminated by the Manufacturers of Motor Vehicles for the year 1978. There being no further business the Committee adjourned. Motion , passed. ; Councilman Whitecotton, Chairman of the Special Committee on :Furniture and Fixtures , presented the following report: ;'The Special Committee on Furniture and Fixtures for the various !; City Departments, met- today, November 1, 1976, at Police Headquart- 1 ers, with three members , Mr. Borgmeyer, Wildhaber and Whitecotton Ipresent. The request of the Parking Authority to purchase two chairs ate la bid price of $80 .00 each, submitted by the Samco Business Supplies of Jefferson City, was approved. These are the same type chairs as were purchased from Samco some five years previously. The Committee also approved the request of the Fire Department ,. as submitted by Chief Willmeno, to �?urchase 12 Box Springs and mattresses C1 $ 11,550 .00 2 10 ft. tables @ $231 .00 ea. 462.00 Special Metal shelving and hose rack @ 175 .00 Committee Total $ 2,187 .00 Report- The springs and mattresses to be furnished by the Jefferson Furniture City Mattress Factory, with the tables, shelving and hose rack to and be furnished by the Missouri State Prison. Fixtures .; These purchases are to be made from the Capital Improvement Fund. The request submitted by Mr. Benton for the Department of '.;Planning and Code Enforcement was held over pending action by the j ; Committee on Accounts , Claims and Personnel, relative to the , employment of a Secretary for this Department. After general discussion of the fact that Sedalia, Missouri, ! did audit the Cable Company that serves their City and did not, in ;; their estimation, accomplish any satisfactory results, a motion wasp; ';made by Mr. Borgmeyer, seconded by Mr. Barry, that it would not be ';practical or economical to hire an Auditor to perform an audit on 'j International Telemeter Company, and that the matter be referred toil lithe Committee of the Whole. .� Respectfully submitted, /s/ Darrel Gordon, i? Councilman Hager moved that Bill No. 71 be amended by inserts "subject to the provisions of Paragraph 7 relating to the Consumers Price Index" between the words "franchise" and "for", Page 5, Section 9, paragraph 3, line 3. Motion passed. On motion of Councilman Hager Bill No. 71, as amended, was read the third time by title and placed on final passage and was 1passed by the following vote as Ordinance No. 8915: Councilmen voting Aye: Barry, Borgmeyer, Brant, Gordon, Hager, Manes, McDowell, Robinson, Whitecotton and Wildhaber.
