Long 11687.00 Bids Clint Wright 2t060.00 Councilman Gordon moved that the low bid be accepted. Motion passed. - - - - - - - - - - Dave Brydon, President of the Cole County Historical Society, !old appeared before the Council in regard to the preservation of the -'city 0 d City Hall. He said that it is one of the oldest buildings in Jail the City and something could be done with it, similar to Lohman's 11 Landing. it would have more historic significance to leave it where it sits . Councilman Whitecotton said that since there are other buildin s to be preserved, he wondered if they could all be moved to one focation. Mayor Hyder said that the Capitol West Project does include an area for historic buildings . - - - - - - - - - - An application was received from Jesse L. Nonnan for the position of bus driver. y'Bus ;I Councilman Borgmeyer moved that the appointment be approved. (Driver Motion passed. - - - - - - - - - - A request was received from Robert G. and Louise M. Anderson to ;;Planning & 11 rezone property located in the Mount Hope Heights Subdivision from ':Zoning RS-2 to RA. IlCommission. The request was referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission.il Mayor Hyder suggested that the halls in the City Hall Building be Paneling paneled, with the City Planner preparing the specifications, with Halls in the aid of personnel in the Office of the Director of Public Works . City Councilman Wildhaber moved that estimates be gotten. Motion ilHall. passed. Councilman Whitecotton, Chairman of the Police Committee, presented,:, the following report: !!Police The Police Department Committee met in the Council Chamber at ;Committee 7 P.M. , Thursda , March 24th, 1977, with Members Brant, Borgmeyer, Report. Wildhaber and Nitecotton present. Applications for a taxi cab operators permit were approved for.' Paul B . Martinez, Holts Summit, Mo. , and Roger C. McMicken, 219 Bolivar St . , Jefferson City . The application submitted by Abbas M. Motlagh, 1001 West High, Jefferson City, was held pending an interview due to a Police record of seding, peace disturbance and assault charges . Councilman Whitecotton, Chairman of the Street Committee, presented Ithe following report : The Street Committee met in the Council Chamber at 7: 15 P.M. , ;Monday, April 4th, 1977, with all members present. Also present ! 'were Mr. Robert M. Bates , Director, Public Works , and Mr. Larry Bates, Street Commissioner. { On motions duly made and seconded, the Committee: Authorized the employment of Robert Autry as Technician II, ! Department of Public Works , at a salary of $820.00 per month ! .beginning on or about April 15th, 1.977. Street Authorized the employment of Steve A. Kleffner to fill vacancy, Committee ' at the Sewer Department, at $3. 25 per hour, beginning on or about Report . `April 11, 1977. �; Authorized the em loyment of Edward Bondurant as Maintenance 1'! Street Commissioner Larry Bates reported that Robert Steinmetz, ;; previously em loyed as Traffic Signal Technician, with related work slat $4.91 per hour, reported for work today, Monday, April 4, 1977. IHeld for further consideration the complaint of John H. Brown,' : relating to certain damages to his property on Grant Street . After considerable discussion in regard to the salary of the ;! Deputy Collector, and duties of the Collector's Office, the ; Committee suggests that the Mayor call an Executive Session after lithe next Council Meeting so that other members of the Council can be informed of the situation. Councilwoman McDowell , Chairwoman of the Public Utilities Committee:. presented the following report: rThe Public. Motion passed. with with Arthur R Mr. Jablonsky was present to answer questions of the Council. Jablonsky and Councilman Robinson wanted to know if the proposed building Associates , would have one or two stories above the ground, or a single story with a basement. He was informed that it would be a single storyy structure, and the percentage to be paid to the architect would be based on the low bid of construction contract. Councilman Robinson said that on page 3, subsection 4, the + Contract reads that the architect shall. not be responsible for contractors failure to carry out contract . If not responsible and ( the contract is accepted by the architect, who is responsible? The ;' ilcontractor is responsible for construction and the architect is responsible for p an and design, Mr. Jablonsky said that his design would be for a Police ' Station with possibility of a City Hall Complex, Mayor f1 der said that additional land should be obtained, , Councilman Whitecotton said that they did not want to acquire more " land in the area until they found out if the land was suitable. Parking Councilman Gordon referred a request for a loading zone on the east Authority side of the 200 block of Monroe Street, in front of the Methodist " Church Pre-Kindergarten School, to the Parking Authority. Planning Councilman Borgmeyer said that some downtown merchants had informed Director him that more islands than were agreed to are being constructed and he was of the opinion that the Council had been told that they would not use space in front of the City National and Masonic Hall Buildingg. After more discussion as to how many islands were to be placed in the three blocks in the downtown area, Mayor Hyder requested that the City Planner check and report to him as soon as possible. 600 Block Councilman Hager requested that the owners of the land on the west of Monroe side of the 600 block of Monroe Street have the unsightly mess Street. cleaned up.
