A quorum was declared present. :'Approval of ) The minutes of the meeting of January 7th were approved as received;: Minutes . - - - - - - - - - - The following bid was received for the purchase of two (2) two-way Opening I; radios for use of the Fire Department: Columbia Electronics $ 10395.00 of bids . ICouncilman Hager moved that the bid be approved. Motion passed. ilThe following bid was received for the purchase of 2,000 feet of il2k" fire hose for use of the Fire Department: ''Opening Lag Fire Protection Company $ 31880.00 of bids . ' Councilman Borgmeyer moved Nat the bid be approved. Motion passed.' Letters of appreciation were received from John-.L. Scruggs, ,Letters Scru gs-Guhleman Lumber Company, and Curtiss S. Ford, Sr. , of Institutional Parole Officer, Missouri State Penitentiary, for the Appreciation placement of a United States Mail Box on Washington Street by the Post Office. - - - - - - - - - - A request was received from Virginia C. Rinklin, Treasurer of the !!Council Council of Clubs , for the first half of the allotment in the amount,, of of $350.00 for the Cole County Nursing Program. ;,Clubs . Councilman Borgmeyer moved that the request be approved. Motion passed. Mayor Christy requested that the Council give him approval to sign "Request a liquor license for J. Robert Reiskamp and James Schulte, at a for business located at 223 Madison Street . The necessary signatures .Liquor of property owners were presented. ,License. License. Councilwoman McDowell moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign the license. Motion passed. - - - - - - - - - - A communication was received from the Housing Authority, requestingi'Housing the Council to concur in the condemnation of property owned by iAuthority. John Avery, 323 West High Street. Councilman Wildhaber moved that the Council concur. Motion passed. ) - - - - - - - - - - A letter of resignation was received from F. Howard Alexander from ' Resignation the Board of Adjustment, due to ill health. , Board of Councilman Hager moved that the resignation be accepted. Motion ;;Adjustment. passed. Councilman Gordon moved that the appointment be approved. Motion passed. Mayor Christy presented the following to the Council: ; Finance iCommittee As you were informed by Mr. Daniel C. Rodgers, Chairman of the State Mediation Board, Local 671 of the Jefferson City Fire Department was certified recently as the exclusive bargaining agent for the Jefferson City Fire Department Union. We would like to meet as soon as possible to fulfill the obligations as outlined in House Bill 166. We are waiting for �$ your reply. Sincerely yours, /s/ Paul T. ";,Councilman Hager, Chairman of the Finance Committee, presented the !! following report: Meeting of the Finance Committee was held Tuesday, January 15, , in the Council Chambers , at 7: 30 P.M. Present were eight Council (;members meeting with the City Transit Authority. Members of the (Transit Authority present were Marvin Gillock, Herb Knight and ' Roy Remick. The Transit Authority requested emergency funds in the amount ! of $21,530.00 for an anticipated influx of bus riders due to the energy crisis . Also included in their request was an additional Finance. $4,600.00 for the purchase of additional buses. Committee., After considerable discussion by Council members and the Report. Transit Authority, a motion was made and passed by the Finance Committee that an appropriation of $11,000 .00 be made on a six . months ' trial basis , in addition to the $4,600.00 for extra buses . In other business , Councilman Wildhaber made a motion that $2,000.00 be appropriated for the purchase of additional cinders and salt for the Street Department stock ile. This was broken down;, as approximately 500 tons of cinders at $1,400.00, and the remainder ;, for the purchase of salt. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8: 15 P.M. /s/ Harvey Hager, Chairman. City ppurchase a case of shot gun shells , approximate cost $62.00, for pi eon control at the Missouri River Bridge. After discussion a; Councilman Woodman moved not to purchase the shells . After much interrogation of Larry Haake, Chairman of the Parking Authority, by the Councilmen, Councilman Borgmeyer moved that Bill No. 80-A, as amended be placed on the Informal Calendar until the Committee of the Whole discussed the Bill thoroughly and made the proper amendments.
