Councilmen present: Barry, Borgmeyer, Gordon, Hager, McDowell, Nacy, Whitecotton, Wildhaber and Woodman. :; Councilman absent: Ortmeyer. A quorum was declared present. !!The Special Meeting was called to decide whether or not to meet Purpose`jwith representatives of any interested City Departments to explain of '" the Council 's position with respect to the proposed budget for the `! 1973-74, and to give the representative an opportunity to comment Meeting. ; on the budget. ! Councilman Barry moved that the Council have such a meeting in ,: conformity for call of meeting. The motion was seconded by ! Councilman Woodman. I: ! Councilman Barry stated that he thought that the Council should Imeet with representatives of various City Departments who are ;' acting for their organization in regard to comments and inquiries jas to the Council's action on the budget, to avoid any type of } problem with the various Departments. By explaining the City's ,! position it makes good employee-employer relationship. t+ ;l Councilman Wildhaber said if we meet again, it would mean that the Council is going to reconsider. I !, Councilman Whitecotton stated if we have another meeting, it would 11be a mockery because funds are not available. IlCouncilman Woodman said the Council would be considering more than ! salaries , such as longevity, hospitalization, etc. The various l I, Departments want some kind of committment on these things. ; Councilman Borgmeyer asked for the question and the motion was ! restated by the City Clerk. Councilmen voting Aye: Barry, Gordon, McDowell and Woodman. Councilmen voting Nay: Borgmeyer, Hager, Whitecotton and Wildhaber. ! Councilman present but not voting: Nacy. Mayor Pro tem Nacy then voted Nay and explained that his vote does not preclude that the Council will give further consideration at a + future date as to certain fringe benefits . The only way to keep a ; balanced budget is to control expenses and must be done in a way so !has not to put the City in an impossible situation. i - - - - - - - - - - Adjournmen Councilman Wildhaber moved that the Council adjourn, under the ( rules.
