Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes
January 19, 2023

Meff Runyon, Kate Cole (on zoom)

Current Rec Programming and Department Updates RAC Recommendations 2023
Tracy reviewed current programming: Basketball is running for grades K-2 instructional and
grades 3-6u1 team play. Increased community feeling -little things that make a rich wonderful rec
program.
• Open gym at the middle school on Saturdays for all ages.
• Pickleball- 16 people playing and communicating using the team reach ap.
• Early Bird Fitness.
• Discussion of MY Rec Website and using it to put together the budget.
• Summer Program jobs have been posted on the Town website and starting to accept
applications.
• Brendan putting together February vacation gym time 9-12pm T/W/Th

Recommendations
Swim Safety- collaborate with Nauset Beach staff for swim program
Police open gym
Expansion of summer program shift from 6 to 8 weeks
Nov, March, April and June really quiet on Rec Calendar- fill in the gaps
Additional gym time for sports teams
HS students to do BBall clinics
Increase the number of people that can register for classes/clinics
How to allocate the tennis courts & monitor -used to have a person in the summer
Collaborate with other Town
Communication using available sources
Waivers process clearly understood
Careful analysis of revolving fund
Inventory of supplies- what are the bigger items that are needed. Being more strategic about the
use of the revolving fund.

The hours increased from 35 to 40 at SB meeting 1/18/23
Input from others in choosing new Recreation Director
Importance of getting a good hire for the position.

everyone who wants to attend can.
Down the road planning for the additional two weeks in the summer, needs to be in the budget.
