Minutes Presentation Resolutions were presented to families of deceased City employees, of Lawrence Shouse, James Bagby, Leslie Groff and Paul Hickman. Resolutions - - - - - - - - - - The following report of the Planning and Zoning Commission was presented to the Council: Plannin g A s ecial meeting of the Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commis- 11 and sion was held at 7: 30 P.M. , Monday, June 22, 1970 in the Board Room Zoning of the Chamber of Commerce. Comm. Report The item discussed and recommendations by the Commission are as follows: 1. Request of Esther Schuricht Strobel and Irene Schuricht Knernschield to change the zoning of a 7 acre tract of land lying east of the east right-of-way line of U.S.Highway 54 South from A-1 single family dwellings to F-Highway commercial. The property is generally described as beginning 700 ft. south of the South line of the Elmer Goldammer property on which the Westgate Bowling Lanes building is situated and extending south along the highway a distance of 400 ft. The depth of the property is 759.07 ft. The property is under contract to Don B. Riley who intends to construct a building for his Chevrolet Auto Agency. A legal description of the Schuricht property as presented in 1 the request is attached. Recommend that the entire tract of land extending south from the south line of the Elmer Goldammer property a distance of 1100 ft- . and to a depth of 759.07 ft. be rezoned to F-Highway Commercial. Wisch, Jonathan L. Staggers and Dr. G. Donald Shull, as members of the Jefferson City Park Board, for three year terms, and until their successors are appointed and qualified. A petition was received from property owners requesting the Councilji'Street to change the name of Hood Street to Dogwood Drive. IIjiCommitte The petition was referred to the Street Committee. A petition was received from the Central Trust Bank for permission to erect an electronically controlled Time and Temperature standard�� on High Street, to be centered on the Central Trust Building approximately four feet from the curb. The request was referred to the Street Committee. Councilman Riner moved that the Gasoline bids which were opened at ;Gasoline the meeting of June 15th be readvertised. Replace existing light in the alley of the 200 block of West Ashley between Broadway & Washington and Ashley and Atchison with 6800 lumen mercury vapor light. Respectfully submitted - Frank J. Motion passed. ` Councilman Wells, Chairman of-the-Annexation Committee, reported iAnnexation that the hearing on annexation had been postponed at the request ofICommittee Mr. Robert Hawkins , Attorney, and has not been rescheduled. ;Report. - - - - - - - - - - ' The following report of the Parking and Traffic Commission was presented to the Council: Meeting was held Tuesday, June 9, 1970, 8:00 A.N. , with the follow_ Parking ing members present: Vice-Chairman Findlay, Lt. Col. L. C. Patton, i and Lt. Duncan, Ed Pope and Ed Rackers . Traffic The Commission makes the following recommendations: ( Commission Report. 1) That a traffic count be taken at the West McCarty Street, Industrial Drive intersection. 2) That the Police and Public Works Department study the Madison Street traffic south of the Dunklin Street intersection in an attempt to improve the traffic flow. 3) That the Public Works Department check the right-of-way at the Fairmount, Chestnut, Atchison Street intersection and remove or trim all trees creating sight distance problems. 4) That parking stalls be delineated in the 200 block of Mulberry Street to facilitate smoother traffic flow into the school area 5) That parking be prohibited on the south side of Elm Street extending 86 feet east of the east curb line of Jackson Street. +) 6) That parking e prohibited in the north-south alley south of Ii the 200 bloc p k 200 block McCarty extending to the east-west alley. �f 117) That parking be eliminated on the west side of the 700 block of Clark Avenue. S) Regarding the sight distance hazard at the private driveway entrance at 2002 Bald Hill Road, the Commission feels that this is not a City problem since it involves a private driveway. However, the Commission feels the problem could be alleviated by relocating the driveway either further down the hill or onto " Seven Hills Road. Respectfully submitted - /s/ R. 'The regular monthly meeting of the Jefferson City Planning and Report Zoning Commission met at 7:30 P.M. , Thursday, June 11, 1970 in the 'Chamber of Commerce Board Room. The following items were discussed and recommendations are as follows: 1) Request of B.C.D. Corporation to rezone Lot 7 in Block 2, Washington Park Addition (also known as 604 Ohio Street) from B-two Family Dwellings to E-Local Commercial. Recommend that the request be denied. �2) Request from Physicians Developement Corporation, who owns tract�� of land located across Southwest Blvd. , and east of Memorial Hospital which is now zoned C-1 (Commercial) . They wish to 1 ±1 include in the C-1 zoning a small tip of their land which lies at the southeast end of the tract. j The portion for which the C-1 zoning is requested is now zoned I�I RS2 on •the proposed zoning map. I Instructed the City Engineer to change the proposed zoning map to show the portion of the Physicians tract which now zoned f R S-2 to C-1. 3) Request of Southwest Group, Inc. , to change proposed zoning map to show a piece of land which they own, from R s-2 Residented to C-1 Commercial. The land is located on Southwest Blvd. and extends south from Thompson Street along the east side of Southwest Blvd. to the north line of the Physicians land above. Instructed the City Engineer to change the proposed zoning map to show the change requested. �+) Request of Roy Roling to change the proposed zoning map to show land owned by him which is located between the Metropolitan Insurance Building on Southwest Blvd. and the land of the property owner east of Rolings property from R S-2 Residential to C-1 Commercial.
