Strong, Walther and Wildhaber. Councilmen absent: Iuen and Riner. i; A quorum was declared present. 11 The special meeting was called for discussion and action on parking in the area surrounding the Student Union at Lincoln University, employment of part-time help as Police Clerk typist, extension of City's Tax Books and a Bill to be introduced and considered for final action, authorizing contract to be entered into relative to purchase of parking meters. Councilman Hiesberger explained that a group from Lincoln University and the ! Parking Lot iCity had met to discuss the parking situation on Chestnut at the Student Union. Lincoln The conclusion of the discussion was to try to work out the establishment of University. a parking lot on the north side of the Student Union with the City furnishing the labor and the University the material. Council action is needed for approval of II assistance and for the use of about 80' of city right-of-way. Mr. Hatcher, Superintendent of Buildings, Grounds and Utilities and Mr. {Arthur Pullam, Administrative Assistant to President, appeared on behalf of Lincoln University. ' The Director of Public Works presented a sketch of the proposed parking lot I and explained how it could be enlarged. Books, �IAfter much discussion Councilman Strong moved that the City Clerk be empowered to employ additional help for exterrding tax books, the amount not to exceed $500. 00. Councilman Hiesberger asked for a roll call vote: The motion pasfied by the followin g vote: is Councilmen voting Aye: Borgmeyer, Haake, K1ieErel, Scrivner and Strong. "An Ordinance of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, authorizing and directing 1= Contract with the Mayor and Clerk of the City to execute a written contract with the Duncan 1! Councilmen voting Aye: Borgmeyer, Haake, Hiesberger, Iuen, Kliegel, Scrivner, Walther and Wildhaber. Councilmen voting Nay: None. I -------------- I Councilmen Absent: Riner and Strong, absent with leave. Councilman Kliegel moved that the weekly payroll be discontinued as of ! Weekly November 12th and that employees be placed on monthly payroll at that time. 11 Payroll. Employees involved shall be advanced $100.00 and $50. 00 per month shall be deducted in November and December, contingent on research by City Attorney. The motion passed.
