Housing A letter was received from the Housing Authority relative to the Authority. sale of land located in the 1100 Block of East Elm Street. Card of A card of appreciation was received from Mrs. William R. Tweedie in Appreciation, in regard to the Resolution received from the Council in tribute to her late husband. Street The Jefferson City Street Department received a letter of "Thanks" Dept. from the Capitol Projects, Inc. , for clearing of debris and weeds around the Shelter Work House. Local No. A letter was received from Mr. Melvin Branson, Business Manager of 661, Local Union No, 662, thanking the entire City Council for their time and patience spent with the Jefferson City Street and Sewer employees and the Transit Authority in negotiating the latest wages and conditions. State Itwy. The State Highway Commission, by letter, stated that they were in Commission. the process of conducting a traffic study at the intersections of Beck St. Beck Street & Southwest Blvd. , Bus. Rte, 50, and Bus . Rte. 50 at Dix Road. Mr. Kliegel stated that lie had received sonic objections to the ordinance making Beck Street one-way, as it would not solve the flow of traffic. Mr. Kliegel moved that the part of Bill #11, making Beck Street one-way, be repealed. Mr. Riner offered a substitute motion that Beck Street be left one- way for a period of thirty days to see if it would help the traffic situation. The substitution motion passed. Finance Mr, Kliegel , Chairman of the Finance Committee, stated that Committee, vacation time For all City Employees would be two (2) weeks per year; the subject of three weeks vacation, after five years service, would be studied at a later date. Police Mr. Scrivner, Chairman of the Police Board, stated that renewals of Committee. taxi permits had been before the Police Board. Utilities The following report -of the Public Utilities Committee was pre- Committee. sented by Councilman Haake, Chairman: July 1, 1968 Mayor Christy: Your Utilities Committee recommends the following street light installation, if it meets with the Missouri Power & Light 253 Master Plan. 1. Councilman Haake moved the report be adopted. The motion passed. Councilman Stone, Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee presented Ways & the following report: Means July 1, 1968 Committee Report. Mayor Christy: The Ways & Means Committee met on July 1, 1968 at 7 :00 p.m. , to consider the Utilities Tax Bills and the Cigarette Tax. The Committee unanimously recommended that the Tax Bills be placed before the Council for further action. The Committee further recommends that a full study be given to a "Room Tax" on Hotel and Motels and that Mayor Christy refer this matter to the proper Committee. Planning & Zoning Commission. The motion passed. The following resolution was presented by Councilman Haake: Resolution, RESOLUTION Street Lights. BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, that the Missouri Power & Light Company make the following installations in accordance with recommendations presented to the City Council by its Committee on Public Utilities, and adopted by said City Council on July 1, 1968. 261 1. System be&ins, any agreement between the Telephone Co. and Franchisbe for Cable TV, be reviewed by the City Attorney and that a written report be made to the Council on whether or not such an agreement ;. meets the requirements of the City Ordinance on Cable Television. The motion passed. Miller Mr. Scrivner referred the matter of one-way traffic on East Miller Street. Street off of Clark Ave. and the possibility of no-parking on the Parking & south side of east Miller, to the Parking & Traffic Commission. Traffic Mr. Scrivner, also, asked the Director of Public Works to check the Commission. Highway Department to see if the City could acquire right-o£-way to make a curve at that intersection. ---------- Radar " Mr. Hiesberger moved that Police Committee study the possibility Units. of employing personnel in the Police Department for the explicit purpose of manning Radar Units on a full time basis. ! ing & Mr. Hiesberger referred the request for "No Parking" on the south Traffic side of E. Elm from Clark Ave. to Houchin St. to the Parking & Commission. Traffic Commission. Adjournment. Councilman Riner moved the Council adjourn, under the rules.
