The minutes of the meeting of August 1st and the recess meeting of August 4th, Approval of were approved as received. Minutes. A petition was presented to the Council by Councilman Haake, requesting a Parking and permanent barricade to be erected in the eastbound lane of West Main Street at Traffic Comm. its juncture with West high Street. The matter was referred to the Parking and Traffic Commission. A communication was received from the Attorney General' s Office relative to Redistricting. the request of an official opinion concerning the question of what individuals should be considered to be residents of the City of Jefferson. The request has been numbered Opinion 415 and assigned to Mr. Donald Randolph, Assistant Attorney General, for preparation of an opinion and will be reviewed by the Attorney General as quickly as possible. Joe De Long for special permission for an extra wide driveway on Dix Road, extending from the end of the Highway Department Project to the north end of the existing driveway. The motion passed. Councilman Van Loo presented a communication from Glen M. Drew in regard Fire Dept. to the wage rates as determined by the Industrial Commission for the new fire Committee. station and requesting a wage rate determination by the City Attorney. Mr. Rose, City Attorney, stated that the city pays the prevailing wage rate. Councilman Van Loo moved that the City Clerk notify Mr. Drew of the decision. "Your Utilities Committee recommends the following street light and fire Report, hydrant installations to the Council: 1 , lteph cc existing, light, at 706 Broadway with 6800 I,umen Mercury Vapor Light. 2. Install new 6800 Lumen Mercury Vapor Light in the alley between Broadway and Mulberry Street. This is the alley in the 800 block of Broadway. 3. Adopted: President of the Council After much discussion in regard to the legality of the City financing the construction of sanitary sewers in a sewer district and the property owners repaying the City for the constructions Councilman Debo, moved that the City Attorney find a legal solution for the City to finance the construction of sanitary sewers. The motion passed. i Councilman Hawes asked for a roll-call vote on his resolution. The motion passed. Service. ! Mr. Bob Pratt of the Smith Realty Company presented a proposition from Mr. Glenn Watson. He would sell. the City six buses for $6500, the tires would cost approximately $200 per month for rental and he would restore the six units acceptable to the Council. After some discussion, the communication was ordered filed. Councilman Debo moved that the City purchase eight school buses for $20, 500. The motion was seconded by Councilman Riner. Councilman Stone offered the following substitute motion: The City purchase six buses and then buy additional buses when needed. The motion was seconded by Councilman lliesberger.
