Councilmen present: Debo, 11aake, Hawes, Hiesberger, Kliegel, Riner, Stone, Van Loo and Willcoxon. 9 Councilmen ahaent: Scrivner, absent with leave. I A quorum was declared present. --------------- The meeting was called to consider the request for a special permit to erect a thirteen-floor motel at Monroe and Miller by the Holiday Inn of America. --------------- Special Permit; A request had been received from Mr. Earl Petty for a special building permit to build a 13-story Holiday Inn Motor Hotel at the corner of Miller and Monroe Streets. Mayor Christy had referred the request to the Planning and Zoning Commission2 after consulting with the City Attorney. Mr. Thomas Benton, Building Commissioner, explained the architect's drawing of the Motel. It would be a sixteen sided building constructed of masonry and glass - thirteen stories high - sixteen rooms on each floor the twelfth floor would consist of a meeting room which would accommodate 300 persons - the thirteenth floor would be a dining room and cocktail lounge. The building would be approximately 130 feet high and there would be a parking lot which would accommodate 185 cars. --------------- Planning and The following report was received from the Planning and Zoning Commission: Zoning Comm. "At a special meeting held on August 19, 1966, the Planning and Zoning Report. Commission recommended the City Council grant a special permit to the Holiday Inn Corporation for the construction of a 13-story motor hotel at. the corner of Miller and Monroe Streets. Isl Bert Koester, Chairman Planning and Zoning Commission Councilman Van Loo moved that the report be approved. The motion passed. -------------- Special Councilman Willcoxon moved that a Special Council Meeting be held September 12t Meeting for at 7: 30 p. m. for the purpose of holding, a public hearing on issuing a special Public Hearing. permit to the Holiday Inn Corporation. The motion passed. --------------- Jefferson City Mayor Christy present(.-(] the following as members of the Jefferson City Transit Transit Authority Commission for approval: Authority. Judge Tyre W. Burton, 913 Fairmount , an Chairman, for a term of two years. Walter A. Swearengen, 207 Boonville Road, for a torm of two years. Robert F. Ifencey, 520 Stadium Drive, for n term of one year. Roy J. Remick, 923 Fairmount, for it term of one year. William F. Seeker, 1319 W. High, for a terns of one year. On motion of Councilman Willcoxon, the appointments were approved. The motion passed. -------------- Adjournment. Councilman Hiner, moved that the Council adjourn, under the rules. The motion passed. --------------
