Fire The following c omintinictittoil was received from the Director of Public Prevention Works and the 13tii1ding Commissioner: Code. January 17, 1966 Gentlemen: On Friday, January 14, 1966, a meeting was held in the office of the I-lousing Authority to discuss the adoption of a Fire Pre- vention Code for the City of Jefferson. Those in attendance were: Ted Herron, Tom Rose , Vincent Willmeno, Bill Morie, Tom Benton and Nelson Vincent, President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Jefferson City. The Fire Prevention Code was discussed at length and it:. was unanimously decided that the Fire Committee of the City Council be requested to review the Code and study the possibilities of adopting it for the City of Jefferson. The Independent Insurance Agents of Jefferson City are also in the process of reviewing this Code and will surely have comments to make to the Fire Committee. The adoption of a Fire Prevention Code is one of the require- ments of our Workable Program. We hope to submit the Workable Pro- gram for recertification in June of this year. We feel that the passage of such a Fire Prevention Code will be most beneficial to the City. Sincerely, /s/ Ed. H. ' The motion passed. ----------- ., The following report was submitted by Mr. Hawes, Chairman of the Parking & Parking and Traffic Commission: Traffic The Parking & Traffic Commission met at 7 : 30 p.m. , Monday, Commission : January 17 and recommends to the Council that the "No Parking" Report. zone on the east side of Jefferson Street, south of the Expressway be made 174 feet and that a four-way stop sign be installed at the intersection of Dix Road and West Main on a trial basis for a period of 60 days . On motion of Mr. Hawes, the report was adopted. The motion passed. Mr. Hawes moved that the change in the traffic signals in the up- town area during the snowy season be referred to the Traffic Di- vision of the Police Department for study due to the cost . Present for this meeting were: Councilmen Van Loo, Stone Hawes, Debo. Also present: Building Inspector Tom Benton, Fire Chief John Sullivan, Fire Inspector Vincent Willmeno. Meeting called for the purpose of interviewing the following architects: Mr. Roy Pallardy Mr. F. Capps Mr. Gen Drew °Motion made by Hawes, second by Debo, to retain Mr. Glen Drew to ` draw plans for a new fire station and to prepare costs estimates. :Motion carried. Your Utilities Committee recommends the following street light installations to the Council: 1. Replace existing light at corner of Elm and Wlanut with new 6800 Lumen Mercury Vapor Light. 2. Install new 6800 Lumen Mercury Vapor Light at corner of Cottage Lane and Hobbs Terrace. 3. Install a new 6800 Lumen Mercury Vapor Light in middle of Mock between Dunklin rand Cottage Lane.* on Hobbs Terrace. 4. Install, a new 6800 Lumen Mercury Vapor Light on Bolivar tat Water Street. 5 . Planning & The following report was received from the Planning and Zoning Zoning Commission: January 14, 1966 Commission Gentilemen Report. The Jefferson City Planning & Zoning Commission at official meeting held January 13, 1966, recommend the following action taken at this meeting to the City Council Members: 1. The request of Leonard Fischer and E. E. Strobel to rezone the north half of the 200 block of E. Dunklin Street including the property facing the S. side of Cedar Street to "G" Commercial. The Commission recommends that the request be granted as requested, excluding that part new zoned "I" which is 201 E. Dunklin or the lot which the Central Missouri Trust Co. sign is located. 2. The Planning & Zoning Commission recommend that the City Regular Council Meeting, January 17, 1966 i; Council give immediate consideration towards employing a i reliable firm for the purpose of making a preliminary City Zoning Plan of the areas to be annexed in the near future. Such City Plan will be of great value to the City of Jefferson and the City Planning & Zoning Commission in establishing good orderly and proper zoning of annexed areas. The motion passed. The following report of the Airport Commission was presented to the Airport Council: Committee Airport Commission Report Report. January 5, 1966 Present: Mr. Hendren, Maxwell, Lamar, Willcoxon, Hawes, Haake and Mayor Christy. 1. Recommended by Mr. Nacy, Hendren and Rose that Jefferson City does not appeal Airport Hearing to Federal Court. Motion made by Mr. Haake to accept recommendation. The motion passed. 2. Mr. Fredericks made presentation of different types of plaques for Memorial to be placed in new terminal - cost $289.00 for wood and plastic or approximately $500.00 for bronze - voted to pruchase bronze provided price does not exceed $475.00. Mr. Fredericks was asked to get price on flag poles - Voted to purchase flag pole for $400.00 from Mr. Fredericks, also two flags. . 3. Mr. Lamar reported on possible state funds in the amount of $15,000.00. Voted for Mr. Lamar to pursue application for additional funds. 4. Discussion on transfer of land (approzimately 20 acres) in the southwest corner of Airport to Public Works Department for Sewer Treatment Plant - voted to ask $2,500.00 per acre for land. 5. Mr. Haake was appointed to talk with Garden Clubs regarding landscaping around new buildings.
