HomeMy Public PortalAbout19650525 special Special Council Meeting, ii IMayor Christy called the Special Council Meeting to order at i 7: 30 p.m. , May 25, 1965. Councilmen present were: Mr. Stone, Mr. Haake, Mr. Scrivner, Mr. IVan Loo, Mr. Hawes, Dr. Skain and Mr. Debo. Also present was Mr. ii Robert Hawkins, Co-Chairman of the Citizen' s Annexation Committee, !, Mr. Edwin Rackers, Director of Public Works, explained Section "C" ;� of the Annexation Map and distributed copies to the Citizens pre- sent. Hearing of 1IThe following Citizens were heard: Mr. L. B. Hartley, 1618 Taylor Section "C" " Drive, Mr. Henry Bedsworth, 1913 Ella, Mrs. H. C. Pavitt, Schott Annexation Road, Mr. Sterling Van Loo, Bald Hill Road, Mr. V. H. Anderson, Map. 1621 Taylor Drive, Mr. James Pennington, 1618 Taylor Drive and Mr. Don Mueller, Bald Hill Road. IlQuestions as to -- Why Jefferson City needs to annex -- Police z;lprotection in the annexed area -- Fire Equipment and fire insuranceil, I rates -- Maintenance of Streets and Roads -- Water districts in Ii 11annexed area -- were asked. Mr. Hawes, Mr. Rackers and Mr. Hawkins answered the inquiries as follows: Police and Fire Protection would be provided. The fire insurance rates would drop accordingly. Sewer lines would be ex- 'Itended according to the present sewer construction schedule. The i Street Department would be enlarged with personel and new equipment to service the annexed area. 'IMayor Christy stated that the City owned 35 acres on Bald Hill Roadil land the possibility of establishing a City Park was being discussedl!
