Hearing. :.Mr. Sheldon Gentry spoke in opposition to the plan. He urged the Hwy. 54 Council to keep the original plan as he thought it necessary to South .keep Stadium Drive open. After some discussion, Mr. Healy agreed with the proposal. Having reached an age whereby I wish to retire from active work as the Jefferson City Milk Inspector, I herewith tender my ,,� resignadon, to be effective as of December 15, 1964. It is with some regret that I retire, as I will miss the : pleasant association I have greatly enjoyed with all the City Officials and the Dairymen with whom I have worked the past ten ' years. A letter of appointment of Mary Lou Holmes as a Clerk of the Appointment Jefferson City Police Department, effective November 16, 1964 was Mary Lou received from Claude E. Short, Chief of Police. Holmes. On motion of Mr. Scrivner, the appointment was approved. I: The motion passed. The following Committee assignments for Francis VanLoo were made Committee by Mayor Christy: Assignments. Chairman - Purchasing and Supplies Committee; Vice Chairman - Parking and Traffic Commission; Member - Fire Department Committee; Member - Finance Committee; Member - Claims, Accounts & City Officers; Member - Public Health Committee - Member - Public Utilities in lieu of Councilman Riner, who is placed upon Streets, Alleys, Sidewalks and Sewerage Committee and removed from Public Utilities Committee. Mayor Christy explained that the Janitor for the City Hall has been Expense assigned additional duties of keeping the Health Clinic clean. He Account recommended that the Council allow him $10.00 per month for for transportation. On motion of Mr. Hogg the recommendation was Janitor. allowed. The motion passed. The following report was received from the Parking and Traffic Parking & Commission: Traffic "The Parking and Traffic Commission met at 7: 30 on November 23rd, Commission with Councilmen Debo, Haake and Hawes present. Report. The Commission recommends the parking meters in the 300 block of East Capitol be changed to two hour meters." On motion of Mr. Hawes, the report was adopted. The motion passed. Mr. Haake, Chairman of the Accounts and Claims Committee moved that Accounts & the monthly bills be paid. The motion passed. Claims The following report was presented by Mr. Haake, Chairman of the Committee Accounts and Claims Committee: Report. Mayor & City Councilmen: The Committee on Claims and Accounts has met and re- commends that the bills be approved. On Wednesday, November 18, the Committee met with the members of the Finance Committee and all City department heads to discuss changes in the methods of paying monthly bills. Ordinance incorporating these changes are being prepared for introduction on December 7 . The Committee likewise requests the fiscal officer to submit for approval of the Council December 7, cost figures for rental of a postage meter machine. At the same time the Committee requests Mr. Abernathy to advise the Council on the estimated savings to the City provided that a meter machine is rented. If a saving can be effected immediate approval by the Council will be necessary prior at least to the purchase of envelopes for the mailing of Tax Bills. Install twelve (12) new 6800 Lumen Mercury Vapor lights starting at Faith Lutheran Church on Industrial Drive, west to Gibson' Store. 2. Install a 6800 Lumen M.V. light in the alley adjacent to the Jefferson Bldg. , behind the Sanitary Barber Shop, Melody Shop, Jacques and Hammond Studio. 3. Install four (4) lumen M.V. lights on the corner of Livingston and Crest, 416 Crest, 408 Crest and 400 Crest. 4. Install one (1) Lumen M.V. light at 408 Donna Bella, dead end. 5. Install two or three Lumen M.V. lights on Rosevalley from present lights to Leslie Blvd. 6. Install a 6800 Lumen Mercury Vapor light in the middle of the 400 block of State Street. Left side of street . 7. Replace the present light with a 6800 Lumen M.V. light at 1206 East Atchison Street . 8. Street. il ---------- Urban Mayor Christy appointed Larry Haake liason man to the Urban Renewa� Renewal. Mr. Haake said that he had attended a meeting with the Urban Renewai at the Ramada Inn. Several States were represented. ii ---------- Squirrel Mr. Hawes questioned the Chief of Police in regard to a child being, Biting bitten by a squirrel. The Chief of Police said that the animal had ' Child to be kept at an animal hospital due to the fact that the Humane Officer had no facilities to take care of anything but dogs.
