Roll. Call. Jresent: Burkhalter, Butzer, Cline, Debo, Jobe, Riner and

Absent: Kliegel, Robinson and Scrivner. 3
JA quorum was declared present.
Judges for The election ,jildges for the regular April 2, 1963 City Election as
Election. recommended by the Chairman of the Democrat and Republican City
' Committees, were approved, as was the list of 17 registrars.
Resolution. IThe following resolution submitted by Mr. Butzer, was defeated by
' voice vote:
; WHEREAS, the Cole County Grand Jury of 1962 recommended a general
i' 11tightening of election procedures to conform with the
law; " and
jiWHEREAS, the conduct of past elections within the City of Jefferson;
j; has not conformed with the letter and spirit of the law
in the following respects:
1) Receipts have not been given for absentee ballots; ands
2) Copies of the poll book sheets listing persons who i
have voted have been prepared and removed from polling
'j places prior to closing of polls; and,
' WHEREAS, the above practices have contributed to a loss of con-
e; fidence in the exercise of the privilege of voting;
#; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council go on record in
opposition to the above practices and in favor of complian; e

with the Election Laws of the State of Missouri, in
accordance with the recommendations of the Cole County
!` Grand Jury of 1962. j
Resolution. !! The following resolution was adopted:
MWHEREAS, the City Clerk is making every effort to conform to the
Election Laws in every way and to continue the confidence
of the public in elections ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, We as the Council wish to commend j
her for her full and honest efforts and offer the full
f' cooperation of this Council. "

Recess. 10n motion made and seconded, the Council recessed, subject to the
