The meeting was opened with prayer offered by Mr. Robinson, who i?Prayer.
(called special attention to the death of Mrs . Arthur W. Ellis,
1wife of the late Mayor of Jefferson City. The council stood in
lisilent reference to the memory of Mrs. Ellis .
110n motion by Mr. Robinson, seconded by Mr. Butzer, the minutes of Minutes .
the July 9 regular meeting were amended to show that Mr. Robinson
, introduced a motion that the "status quo" with reference to the
! existing parking meters in the downtown area be retained. Said
;motion failed to come before the body for vote for the want of a
(! second.
! On motion by Mr. Willcoxon , seconded by Mr. Scrivner, the minutes l
1of the July 9 meeting as amended were approved.

:. adopted a motion authorizing expenses be paid to members of the League.
;, City Council and other Department: Heads to attend the annual
,, convention of the Municipal League of Missouri scheduled to be '
;; held at Springfield, September 19 through 21 .
On motion by Mr . Willcoxon , seconded by Mr. Riner, the following Parking &
iipetition signed by 15 signatures was referred to the Parking and Traffic
(Traffic Commission: Commission .
; "We, the undersigned, do hereby request the City Council of the
.; City of Jefferson , State of Missouri, to institute an order for a
'; stop sign to be placed at the streets of Cherry and Miller in such
a manner as to stop the north and south bound traffic on Cherry
JStreet, thereby creating through traffic on East Miller Street ."
On motion by Mr. Burkhalter, seconded by Mr. Willcoxon , a letter American

Law Suit Following a discussion by the City Attorney concerning a civil suit iC
(Renfrow) in re Renfrow vs . the City of Jefferson, the council adopted a
;motion offered by Mr. Riner, seconded by Mr. Burkhalter, that the !�
case be settled for the $750 .OU amount suggested by the city
:attorney.
Law Suit :With reference to the suit involving a fall at the skating rink the
(ice case) ;;city attorney was instructed to go to trial.
Law Suit On motion by Mr. Kliegel, seconded by Mr. Butzer, the city attorney
(Rowland) 'was instructed to go to trial with reference to the case, Rowland

the regular maintenance of our streets and sewers, and;
Whereas, the performance on their part of these maintenance funcions �
without interruption is essential to the continued welfare of the 11

Whereas, the public is entitled to know as a matter of courtesy and !i
;good manners in advance about changes that will effect them. it
i�Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of Jefferson City;
; that in the future when construction projects are to be undertaken
which will in any manner interfere with the movement of traffic or
in general be the cause of any inconvenience to any member of the
public, that the public be notified through announcements in the
local newspaper and the radio of the commencing of such constructiol
