Roll Call Present: Burkhalter, Butzer, Cline, Jobe, Kliegel, Riner, Robinson, Scrivner, Watt, and Willcoxon. .Absent: None A quorum was declared present. -r--------r------ The meeting was opened with a prayer offered by Mr. Robinson. Prayer *The minutes of the last previous meeting, October 101962, were Minutes :!approved as prepared by the clerk on motion by Mr. Jobe, seconded ; by Mr. Burkhalter. ----------------- ion motion by Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Robinson the Council Next ;'voted to conduct its next regular meeting at the regular time, Meeting November 5, but meeting at 7 p.m. , only to take care of emergency matters and to adopt measures necessary to pay monthly accounts and ;claims. --------------- "Miss Doris Athe, who recently assumed the post of Librarian at the Librarian 'Jefferson City Public Library, was introduced by the Mayor. She spoke briefly and expressed her pleasure with her new duties here and issued an invitation to all members of the official City family to feetl free to visit the public library. » Following an oral plea by Robert K. Coffland, representing the park- ing committee to the Downtown Merchant' s Association, who expressed .,opposition to the elimination of angle parking in the downtown area, Mr. Cline, chairman of the parking and traffic commission, issued an invitation to the group to bring the matter before his commission. ; On motion by Mr. Scrivner, seconded by Mr. Willcoxon, a matter of Water Street the City's abandoment fo the 1700 block of water street or per- mission to grade the area requested by Mr. William W. Wagner, 101 ,Grant St. , was referred to the Street Committee and the City Engineer. ' On motion by Mr. Robinson, seconded by Mr. watt, the City Collector City was authorized by the council to issue City Dealer Tags on January Collector & . lot, in lieu of July 1, in compliance with the collector's letter Dealer Tags of request dated October 15, 1962. On motion by Mr. Kliegel, sec - seconded by Mr. Cline, a matter concerning Milk ;the Milk Inspector' s request to trade a 1960-model Ford Automobile Inspector s for a four-wheel drive truck was referred to the Finance Committee Vehicle to determine the question of the necessity for trading the present 'vehicle. ' The following bids were opened and read by the Clerk for the purchase Hose , of 150 feet of one-inch 800-1b test Booster Hose for use by the Bids ;' Fire Department: Central Fire Truck Corp.------------ -__ $145.50 : On Motion by Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Robinson, the matter was awarded to the Central Fire Truck Corp. ------------------ The following bids were opened by the Clerk and read for the purchase of four, two-brawer file units and 1 four-drawer file unit for use g by the Department of Engineering: Samco Business Supplies, Inc. ------------- $139.54 Joe G. Commission recommends that the supervising achitects of the Municipal Parking Garage, namely Schwarz and Von Hoffman, be in- Formed in writing that the City Council desires an immediate re- commendation as to the solution of the water accumulation in the basement of the Municipal Parking Garage; 3. Request be made that the State Highway Department erect radar signs on the Whitton Expressway.' r Finance On motion by Mr.-W111coxon,-seconded-by-Mr. Burkhalter, the Report Spptember Financial report prepared by the Clerk, showing a total balance of $5310231.48, was approved. ----------------------------- s Flu Shots On motion by Mr. Riner, seconded by Mr. Willcoxon, the Council adopted a measure providing that the City puuchase necessary medicine for influenza shots and that the shots by administered by ! the City Physician. ---------------------------- Payment tb On motion by Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Butzer, authorization Cure- was given to pay Cure-Linhardt the sum of $50 145.20 with reference Linhardt to the Off-Street Parking facility, as certified for payment by Architect under Certificate No. 14, and to pay $12,886.53, to Cure-Linhardt upon determination that all matters appearing on the _ final inspection have been corrected and completed. ---------------------------- Parking At the request of Mr. Robinson, the Police Department was asked to lo Madison look into a matter of parking at the corner of Madison and McCarty ; & Streets where the curb has been removed. At the request of Mr. Riner, a matter concerning the providing of Mo-Pack } a parking area for employees of the Missouri-Pacific Railroad as a Parking result of the removal of certain offices from the Mill Bottom area, '` was ordered referred to the Parking and Traffic Commission. } ------ r j� Mr. Cline called attention to a communication received from Don B.
