Alex Vetter, chairman of the Mayor's Bond Issue Advisory ommittee, opened the special meeting by describing a discuxxion e had this date with finance representatives of the company nterested in the construction of a Motor Hotel in connection with he off-street parking facility at the southeast corner of Madison treet and Capitol Avenue. Initial cost would be extremely high, r e said. He also said the architect expressed a need for a 60-foot Ij trip on Madison Street . e said the project would require an investment of $2,500,000, with hree months time necessary for study. He went on to point out, 1 owever, that a finance representative indicated a need for six !' onths study time. f the six-month period were granted by the council, he said, and hen the plan does not prove feasible, the city would be back at itsif riginal starting point . This would be a 50-50 proposition, he aid, instead of the original offer. Mr. Elmer "Bud" Hemel j bjected to the proposition, and indicated he would buy the RileyE roperty and construct the third story on this structure for his twn parking on the second floor of the city lot . ioseph G. Majersky suggested another attempt the following Monday 13 n an effor to determine whether another proposition couldn' t be I worked out in an effort to get a hotel of some type here. Following ii further discussion, the Council adopted a motion offered by Mr. �! Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Dorr, to proceed with the proposed ff-street parking facility as originally planned. U the suggestion of the Mayor, the Council adopted a motion offered 'by Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. R. Jobe, that the council go on ecord to assist in any way in efforts to interest the company to urchase other property here for such a proposition. n other action, the council adopted a motion offered by Mr. lillcoxon, seconded by Mr. Dorr, instructing the City Attorney to contest a proposed rate increase filed with the Public Service �! ommission of Missouri by the Capital City Water Company, without �iring additional assistance. On motion by Mr. Dorr, seconded by Mr. Willcoxon, a motion was dopted granting a request for three parking places in front of $elinger Center on Broadway Street for the Annual Home Show to be ? k eld April 26 through 28. t the request of Mr. R.
